💦 Wetting Agents vs Dishwashing Liquid 💦

Dishwashing liquids are a cleanser, that are formulated to clean dishes and remove grease and grime. They are not designed to stick chemicals to plant foliage or force the chemical into the plant leaf.

Dishwashing liquid can adversely impact the active ingredients mixed in spray solutions.

Furthermore, majority of plants enjoy a slightly acidic to neutral environment. Whereas dishwashing liquid may shift the pH to be more alkaline.

Wetting agents or surfactants are designed to reducing the spray droplets’ surface tension, increase spreadability and allows the herbicide to pe*****te the leaf surface more effectively, resulting in a better kill.

This is particularly important when plants have waxy or hairy leaves, such as Nutgrass.

Eradicating weeds is labor-intensive and can be expensive, so you want to ensure you do it right the first time.

⚠️ ARMY WORMS ⚠️

These army-coloured, khaki-green caterpillars are the larvae of moths of the Noctuidae family.

The armyworm's name describes the way larvae march in large numbers away from sites where their food has run out.

They are a nuisance throughout Queensland and sometimes occur in plague proportions. Armyworm consume the leaves, stems and seed heads of grass. They can decimate entire lawn areas, leaving behind practically nothing but bare earth.

How to detect armyworm?

If you notice patches of lawn suddenly dying, this could be evidence of armyworm activity. You may also notice small, grey moths flying around your lawn. (These moths are armyworms in their adult stage, looking for a place to lay their eggs.)
