2 days in a row! Thank you Callala. Wow! This would have to be the best creation I ever made (apart from the Spring rolls I made for Something Seafood” 😁) where you showed such great support. Better than my crocheted creation.
Someone asked if my book “Navigating Challenges” is about my story. Sorry to disappoint but it’s not a story of my life ( that’s in the making 😁). The book is about my experiences running a business and how I used those experience to create strategies on how to overcome obstacles through resilience. 8 years on and I’m still here. Below is an excerpt from the book.
“And this is what I learned: a business cannot thrive on daily takings alone. Without proper capital, planning, and financial structure, you end up operating in survival mode instead of growth mode. Understanding this truth became one of the most important turning points in my journey. It pushed me to reflect and to seek guidance, and to rebuild my approach with more intention and resilience.
I fell two months behind on my rent, and in the middle of an active bushfire emergency just three days before Christmas I received a hand delivered eviction notice from my real estate agent as per the Landlord’s instructions. People were evacuating, shops were closing, and the sky was filled with smoke, yet there I was, being told to leave my business premises. That moment broke me. I went home to my husband in a state of complete collapse. It was then I realised something harsh about business: not everyone takes natural disasters or human circumstances into account. Some people look only at the ledger, not the person behind it.
Receiving that letter during a crisis was deeply traumatic. I kept asking myself how anyone could treat me that way, especially when the whole community was struggling to survive. I know I wasn’t financially prepared, and I accept that part of the responsibility. But the
lack of compassion especially in the middle of a natural disaster cut me deeply.”
P.S William was not my Landlord 😁
