🌿 Joy is safe.
Today was a little bit surreal.
I went into Glasgow for a flash-mob line dance to one of my favourite songs… and somehow ended up with a signed cowboy boot. 😂🤠
Then, just before I went into a café, a little ladybird landed on my T-shirt, crawled into my hair, climbed back down again, flew onto my phone while I was trying to photograph it… and promptly disappeared.
Naturally, I got a lovely photo of myself with absolutely no ladybird in it whatsoever. 😂🐞
But the café was once my wedding dress shop.
And after years of walking past it and feeling a little nervous about going back inside, today I simply walked in.
I ordered a coffee.
I told them about the business.
I told them about the wedding dresses.
I went through to see the space where I used to sew.
And I realised something.
I used to be an incredibly confident, outgoing person. Somewhere along the way, that part of me got a little quieter.
But today, for a little while, she was back.
Not because I had to become someone new.
Not because I had to leave my old self behind.
But because I remembered that she’s still there.
The confident girl.
The playful girl.
The curious girl.
The one who says yes to unexpected adventures.
And the one who notices a ladybird and thinks:
Oh. There you are. Joy is safe. 🐞🤎
Today was a very good day.
