Day 8 on day bed all painting staining finished up to fitting cushions and then make inners for scatter cushions. Should be able to list on marketplace by mid-week. I am very happy with the day bed it looks beautiful.

Day 4 and started on the wire of the bed base. Using fine fire to weave over the holes then a quick spray to clean up rust. Then time to sew a new calico cover to protect the wire and keep the new white linen cushions clean on the underside. The day bed is progressing well will look wonderful at the end of the restoration journey. cheers

DAY 3 AND WORKING ON DAYBED RESUMES PETER STARIGHTENED THE BACK LEG MEANT UNDOING VERY TIGHT BOLT NEVER RELEASED SINCE BEING BUILT THEN PACKED, JOB DONE MORE SANDING AND STAINING, STILL A WAY TO GO BUT YOU CAN SEE PROGRESS cheers

Boxing day still too hot for beach. Had great fun with friends play 5 Crown last night. Christmas day 2024 done and dusted. new stay second time working on day bed. Casters off and being cleaned up random nail heads punched and another light sand. Gaps filled and rubbed back and start of staining at one end only. progress is slow but no headaches yet. Lots of fun still and it is going to be a beauty.

Christmas day 2024 the day is stinking hot to hot for beach with dogs so we have started on the fabulous day beds I bought from Robyn a few weeks ago. I am so excited with this project they are going to be beautiful white linen cushions and a touch of the vintage paint an aqua blue coming through the new stain to link the piece to days gone by. They both have beautiful turned legs and spindles and one is more like a chaise lounge with a half back arm and a curved end. Lots to do rebuild the original casters, rub back and smooth surface for staining, repair wire frame to add strength and reweb the other. Upholstered cushions ready just need scotch guard so if all goes to plan, they will be ready for marketplace February. Christmas day happiness stating a new different recycling challenge

It has been along time since I have posted regularly on my site. First it was set up to give my wonderfu cousin Deb a window into my restoration and recycling adventures but since she has left me or us I have not been keen to continue. Lately a lot of new views have visited the site so I’ll start again with Magpie Treasures. We are just home from the first Vintage Fair at Candelo Town Hall made new friends and customers and met old friends again. We had a wonderful still life artist from Cooma at the fair and we hope to combine her still life’s on recycled wooden cabinets for kitchen and dining areas with fun scenes appropriate to the piece’s
function. For example vegetable box with garlic potatoes etc painted and wallpapered on door or lid. We know what we mean sorry if you can’t follow. So keep watching for our first picture up on site in N Y. My recycled glass and crystal Christmas Trees were a failure but I will post pictures next week hoping someone may be interested. It is a hard time to sell at the moment with cost of living and mortgages being expensive but hopefully the economic cycle will lift for everyone soon And people will enjoy spending on happiness and frivolity again . This Sunday Fibre group at Luncheon Pavillion Candelo Showground, 10 am. Bring along whatever craft you want to do and meet other crafter artists. It is great to share ideas and skills and make new friends. gold coin donation, need some lunch, coffee and tea provided. See you there.
