Hello local readers!
I thought I'd let you know about what's happening at the Old Mill in Carrick, one of Tasmania's famous heritage listed buildings.
Many of you will have noticed the scaffolding that has been doing a slow circumnavigation of the building.
My husband Andrew has been working tirelessly on this "once in a generation" restoration project.
It involves such things as filling the many gaps in the mortar around the roof line, painting all the trim and restoring the cedar windows.
The long dead glory vine is also being removed, and the gardens cut back to a more manageable level.
The Mill, nearly 180 years old, is still in very fine shape and it is our hope that this restoration will see this wonderful piece of heritage preserved for many generations to come.
For those interested, a colour known as "rusty" is being applied over the old faded pink. We hope you like the Mill's new look, and of course you are always most welcome to visit the shop during the three days a week that we are open.
Cheers
Susanne
