Taking time this morning to do some planning to create a new design for a competition.

In September this year, my local Branch of The Embroiderers Guild, Victoria will be holding an Exhibition. There is a Challenge Competition for its members and the competition theme is 'Shades of a Colour'.

Design is done, colour & shades chosen. Now to begin the preparation work and stitch.

And sorry to say, there will be no progress updates along the way.
Final finished piece and the Competition result will be revealed in September.

Found a piece of braid made from beautiful silk threads in my late mother-in-law's small cane sewing basket.

After pondering for a few days on how I could upcycle this, I concluded the bin was my only option.

But I just couldn't bring myself to throw such beautiful silk threads in the bin.

I then decided that maybe I could unweave the braid. Some 5+ hours later, I have successfully separated and packaged all of these very fine silk threads to be used in future projects.

So, another Sunday has been spent doing silly things instead of working more stitches into an unfinished piece of embroidery that I eagerly wish to finish.

Such is life, when one needs to tidy one's Attic Studio to make more space.

With today's temperature hitting 30°C + it was a perfect day to sit and stitch in a quiet cool corner.

This project has been sitting in the 'To Hard Basket' for longer than I wish to recall because I couldn't make up my mind as to which of the several border patterns I designed would be appropriate and would fit with the other stitch count.

So 4 hours later, I have a decision and a pattern that fits perfectly.
Am stoked with result so far and am so looking forward to finishing this piece.

Keep an eye out for more progress posts.
