Hi everyone@central Coast vinyl. It gives me great joy to get your messages and photos and watch many of you evolve in your quest to learn, produce and in some cases sell your work. It takes time to learn and make mistakes to master. It’s not as simple as putting it in one end and out pops what you want at the other. We are ALL LEARNERS and will continue to be as new items, computer updates have us scratching our heads.
Many people who make requests of you on the crew have no idea of the blood, sweat and tears that often goes into their project to make it perfect for them and our frustration as they don’t follow instructions given to get the best of their piece. I just want you to know that your determination and persistence to learn (from mistakes at times) courage to try new things and do them well is very satisfying.
For those in business:- (these are my tips from what I have seen in my last 4 years).
-Think outside the box!
- Always be respectful and mindful of others as they are trying to create a business too.
-Harness new ideas, but DONT COPY OTHERS. There is a huge difference. This trend just floods the market, lowers the prices and leaves people holding a heap of stock they can’t rid themselves of. (I see this constantly).
-Don’t share what you’re doing until you have it on display or risk being pipped at the post!
-Remember word of mouth is the best form of advertising. It doesn’t cost anything to smile , be helpful and polite.
- if you’re not enjoying it, don’t do it, people notice and you are not doing yourself any favours.
- Lastly , I can’t stress enough (my pet hate) DONT BE PLAYING ON YOUR MOBILE. More than anything people want good customer service in a world where we rarely get any. Personally, I am unforgiving of this behaviour which you see a lot at markets and I won’t even approach that table . If they are not interested in me, they don’t deserve nor have they done anything to earn my dollar and therefore have already lost my respect before I’ve even looked at what they are offering.
On that note , I am so proud of the effort you make for yourselves and your readiness to help those I send to the cut crew.
Hopefully it is giving you lots of practise, a few dollars in your pocket at times and the appreciation you deserve . (Don’t forget to get your 5% discount @ the Stop).
