We've carefully selected the most striking sections for the custom vanity fronts, making sure the grain flows seamlessly across the cabinetry.

And here it is, fully assembled and ready for its new home.

The beautiful natural features within the Blackbutt timber have come together exactly as planned, with the grain flowing effortlessly across the vanity face. What began as carefully selected individual boards now appears as one seamless piece, allowing the character of the timber to take centre stage.

With its substantial 30mm sides and 26mm drawer fronts, this vanity has the solid timber look our client was after. It's a piece with real presence—not only visually, but physically too. The weight and feel of the finished vanity reflect the quality of the materials and craftsmanship that have gone into every stage of the build.

The customer will be adding their own stone top and bowl, creating a combination that will perfectly complement the warmth and natural beauty of the Blackbutt.

While the focus is often on the timber, what's behind the scenes matters just as much. Our vanities are built with a strong structural backing, allowing them to be securely fixed through the rear for wall-mounted installation. The result is a vanity that not only looks substantial but remains solid and secure on the wall for years to come.

With the carcass now assembled, this Blackbutt vanity is really starting to take shape.

The internal structure is constructed from durable melamine, providing a stable and practical foundation, while the carefully selected Blackbutt timber detailing has been installed between the drawer openings. This is where all the planning and grain matching comes together. Once the drawer fronts are fitted, the timber will flow seamlessly across the face of the vanity, creating the appearance of one continuous piece rather than separate components.

This vanity features a centre bowl, which means the middle cavity has been designed to accommodate the plumbing while still maximising usable storage on either side. Every vanity we build is customised around the practical requirements of the space, and plumbing is no exception.

Whether it's a centre bowl, double bowl, wall waste, floor waste, or specific storage requirements, each vanity is built to suit the exact layout of your bathroom. No compromises, no wasted space—just a design that looks beautiful and functions exactly as it should.

This Blackbutt vanity has now moved into the finishing room, with all the timber cut to size and its first coats of finish applied.

At this stage, the finish is still wet, giving the timber a rich gloss that highlights every grain line, colour variation, and natural feature. It's always one of our favourite moments in the process—when the raw timber starts revealing the depth and character that was hidden within it all along.

Nestled within the drying racks, the individual components may still look like separate pieces. But this is where the careful timber selection and grain matching from the beginning of the project start to pay off. Once assembled, these panels will flow seamlessly into one another, creating the appearance of a single, continuous piece of timber.

The result will be a vanity that feels fluid, balanced, and intentionally crafted from every angle—exactly as it was designed to be.

For now, it's drying patiently. Soon, these glossy Blackbutt panels will become a stunning custom vanity ready for assembly.

Every custom vanity starts long before the first coat of finish goes on. It begins with carefully hand-selecting each piece of timber to ensure the grain, colour, and character flow naturally from board to board when joined together.

For this 1200mm Blackbutt vanity, our client wanted a bold, solid-looking piece with plenty of presence. To achieve that, we increased the timber thickness throughout the design, creating substantial 30mm sides and a 26mm drawer fronts. These details might seem subtle on paper, but they make a huge difference to the overall feel of the finished vanity.

At this stage, the timber has been jointed together and any natural voids have been filled with resin, preserving the character of the timber while creating a smooth, durable surface. Right now, it may look like a collection of timber panels, but this is where every great custom piece begins.

Over the coming weeks, you'll see this Blackbutt vanity transform from raw timber into a handcrafted centrepiece, showcasing the beauty that only solid timber can provide.

One Grain. Multiple Doors. Zero Room for Error.

A little flashback to this custom sheoak vanity and one of our favourite details – the seamless grain flow across the entire front.

At first glance it looks simple, but behind the scenes a lot of planning and precision went into making it happen. The grain continues uninterrupted across both the cupboard doors and drawer fronts, creating the appearance of a single flowing timber surface. Every cut had to be exact, with no room for error.

Because this vanity was designed to fit perfectly between two walls, the sizing had to be spot on. The sides were never intended to be seen, allowing the focus to remain on the stunning sheoak grain while maximising the available space.

One of the advantages of custom cabinetry is that you're not limited to standard sizes. We can build to the exact millimetre required, ensuring every piece fits seamlessly into its home while making the most of the space available.

It's details like these that transform functional storage into a true feature piece.

Right where it belongs ✨

Installed in the entry, this piece is the first thing you see as the door opens — a true statement and proudly taking its place.

This one stayed close to home, now part of our own space, tying in beautifully with the custom timber and blue vintage denim 2-pack kitchen, finished with European Oak.

Finished with a gloss 2-pack coat, the whole piece comes to life. The resin gains depth and clarity, with rich ocean blues flowing through the deeper sections, while the wave details wrap around the rocky edges of the burl.

The Tiger Myrtle Burl steals the show, with natural figure and chatoyance that moves in the light — its rolling grain almost like a puppy dog’s loose skin.

Out of the mould and into refinement ✨

Once de-moulded, the piece is relevelled to bring everything back true. From there, it’s all about the details — any pinholes or small imperfections are carefully patched to ensure a clean, consistent surface.

After that comes the final sand, followed by a seal coat to lock everything in and prepare it for the finish.

Each step getting it closer to its final form.

Building the ocean, layer by layer 🌊

The resin pour is where this piece really starts to come to life. Poured in stages, each layer adds depth — beginning with the darker tones of the ocean floor, then gradually building into clearer, more transparent layers above.

Around the edges of the Tiger Myrtle Burl, the resin is blown to mimic waves rolling over rocky outcrops, creating movement and contrast between the raw timber and the fluid resin.

It’s a slow process, but that’s where the detail comes from.
