First time in a while I had a flick down at the weir.
The rod and reel were a bit dusty after their winter break!
Managed to pull some w**d out of the creek — that was about all I caught.
Tried to get a clip of a cormorant as it ran across the top of the water, but it was too quick.
In the end, it was just nice to be by the water again.

Sound up!
Mother Nature wasn’t in full voice this evening as the sun slowly sets behind the camera and shuts off for another day.
The creek was looking spectacular!

We've reached peak market season; Spring has sprung and we have our annual extra market for Melbourne Cup long weekend. As a result there are TWO fabulous markets coming up for you to enjoy.

Our regular October market is on Sunday October 25th.

What can you expect to find at these markets? Something different! Some of our stalls will be attending both dates, some can only make one of them, so you will get something different each day. KOZLOWSKI'S - 164 LANGTREE AVENUE, MILDURA
Before the Mildura Mall, before big-box, there was Kozlowski's.
Run by the Kozlowski family - Mildura knew them for two things: the shop, and the orchestra. In the 40s and 50s Kozlowski's Orchestra played just about every dance, ball and wedding in town.
At 164 Langtree Avenue, right in the main strip, they had what we'd now call a department store for entertainment. Your paper bag says it all:
RECORDS • RADIOGRAMS • PIANOS
STILL CAMERAS • MOVIE CAMERAS • PROJECTORS
ALL FILMS • SAME DAY DEVELOPING & PRINTING
ELNA sewing machines • olivetti typewriters • Accordions
You could buy a piano, get your holiday film developed, pick up the latest 45, and book the band - all in one shop.
Like a lot of independents, they disappeared as TV, cheap Japanese cameras, and later, malls changed Langtree Ave. The shop closed decades ago - the building at 158-164 Langtree is now finance offices.
These bags are from the early to mid 60s. They were meant to be thrown away that day. To find 5 with the colour still this bright is rare - there's almost nothing else from Kozlowski's left online.

Took this photo on a recent walk through the bush — just a little tiered waterfall doing its thing.
I ran it through a vintage film filter and suddenly it looked exactly like one of those old holiday photos you'd find in a shoebox at your parents' place. Faded colours, bit of sun flare, water frozen in time.
Remember those Sunday drives where you'd stop at a creek just because you could? That's what this reminded me of.
Thought I'd share it here. Sometimes the best vintage finds aren't in a shop.
