We had the walk through of Elsie’s Project, the new palliative care ward at Wyong Hospital. It was lovely seeing a quilt Mum made on one of the beds, and 2 that she made with a close friend of hers from the US.
The family takes home the quilt on the bed once their loved one passes away which I think is really special.
I’m finishing the grouting on the mosaic for the ward today, so I’ll be excited to see it in place. Photos to come!

I’m so close to finishing the mosaic for Elsie’s Project, then this happened…
I had a mosaic leaning up against my bookcase that my kitten decided would be fun to play behind. The mosaic fell and automatic reflex was to catch it - stupid move!!!

I have broken the cardinal rule for grinders - don’t leave the grinder bit attached when not using for long periods.
My poor old grinder bit is way past its lifespan but I cannot get it off to replace 😫
Any ideas on how to remove it at this point??

I’ve never ditched a work in progress before but I lost my way with the mosaic for Elsie’s Project (snippet shown) and started again.
I came to dislike it immensely and would’ve been embarrassed to hand it over.
Take 2 has begun, and I look forward to being able to share with everyone!

I’m thrilled to be making a mosaic for Elsie’s Retreat Project! They are creating a dedicated palliative care ward at Wyong Hospital, all organised by the incredible Margaret Pearce.
I can’t give too much away on the commission I’m working on as yet, but I feel honoured to be even a tiny part of this wonderful project!

This design is from a previous commission, loved by my dear friend Renee-Jayne McMaster, so this one is for her ❤️
It’s on a larger base than the original (second photo), so another border added, and, my error, used a darker grey grout. Renee still loves it so I’m happy 😊

Mimi, my newest apprentice, is enthusiastic about adding her touch to my mosaic, making it essential to protect from potential tile theft.
A rescue from Socares at Charmhaven, she’s about 5 months old and such a sweetie and has become Benji’s best friend 🥰
