You wouldn't believe it but

I did it again. I lost another anchor and almost got washed up, again again again... (Swipe for more build and story time)

So this boat was meant to have a sail. It's on my bench. Copper and lovely, but I just couldn't put it on after another nautical adventure.

Our first mistake was dropping the anchor in a cave at our favourite tow surfing spot. No matter how hard we pulled, we couldn't budge it. Naturally I didn't take my mask and fins this one time to swim down and get the bloody thing, so back we went before things got really interesting.

Our next mistake was stopping the ski right next to the break. Anyone who knows anything about watercraft knows that's not a good idea, and would you believe, the bloody thing didn't start with the wind pushing us straight towards the wave. An anchor sure would be handy right now... Called marine rescue, straight to voice mail with the added bonus of a digital voice saying "this mailbox is full".

"Better start swimming"

A total of 2kms, towing a 400kg jetski, after the most shark related deaths in W.A.s recent history, in the sharkiest place in the state, with the wind And swell ever increasing...

But we got in! We always do. You won't hear about it if we ever don't I guess. No power, no sail. Just ourselves as a rudder guiding us home.

I love how this boat stands suspended with its sense of movement, as if it is leaving its base or the box I tried to fit it in.

The more I'm falling and flailing in this art world the more pushed I feel to stay in this perfect little box. "There is one way to succeed in art, fit the mold dammit!". If artists can't say or act how they feel, then who the hell can?

Now that's what this boat means to me, but hey it's art. Take a deeper meaning from it or just think hey, that's a pretty boat with a cool story! There is no right way 🀷

I'm 90 percent sure I'll enter this in sculptures by the bay Dunsborough, but if you want it, let me know by D.M. in the next few days or she will be locked up until next year!

Also, these beaches are sick. I was lucky enough to see Surfscape Photography who takes the best photos of that stretch hands down. His love for t

Just be yourself they said. People will love you they said.

If you like metal viking, Norse and ocean inspired art, and the weirdness that comes along with it, become a fellow nut.

Pics for this build coming tomorrow! And of course previous works in the pictures section of my profile!

What do I think about BASE CAMP Mask ? Well I sure hope the good folks there watched my videos before they sent me this to try, but...

I couldn't smell paint
Glasses didn't fog
Straps didn't break

That's pretty bloody exceptional considering my technique.

So I'm going to keep testing it in my workshop (RIP roller door). Plasma cutting, grinding and welding are next.

If you want to try one, LONUT gets you 10% off at checkout.

And if you're new here, I make ocean and Norse themed scrap metal sculptures go check em out on my profile πŸ‘€

Love to have you stick around 🀘

Another one down! Took me a minute, been a little slack on socials of late but getting back after it!

A sensational group. Full house and we made some epic flowers and learned some skills on the way. Secretly I am always really curious to see where everyone's own take on the project takes them, with each flower always being unique to the person. I'm always forever grateful to be able to meet and share the joy of metalwork with you all so a big thank you for attending.

Beginner bugs and the bull rushes are currently up on The Barns website on the 28th and 29th of November with spots almost filled? Madness. So jump on it if you are keen as we won't be able to run it again until next year πŸŽ…

The wonderful Abby and myself have been scheming a plasma cutting Xmas themed workshop for the weekend after as well so keep your eyeballs peeled! Spoiler but it's called "plasma and patina". X2 of my favourite things combined.

As always, thanks again and feel free to reach out should you need after care maintenance advice, have any questions from the weekend, or would like your photo removed or covered. See you in the next one 😁

I've had 2 encounters with hammerheads, and I want a few more!

Ol Anchor here has had a few name changes, but we settled on this as he weighs a bloody ton. This made it especially difficult to redo the first photoshoot I wasn't stoked on, as lugging his 40kg b***y back down a sand track didn't sound fun... But at the end of the day I'm really happy I did. Turns out you get to have some interesting conversations when you're walking around with this guy πŸ˜‚

Swipe to read more! Story time slide 2 and 3, about the build after that. (Sorry Facebook this reads easier on Instagram)

The first was at Rob's Jetty in Freo. I've always been an avid diver and freediver with a strange affliction for stupid situations, so of my 1000 logged hours of scuba, a good 200 of those are night dives.

As I'm cruising around dodging fishermen's lures and hooks in the dark, something made the silt stir much too close to be a fish, and who should come up to me to nudge my prawn and crab bag for a tasty treat but ol Anchor.

Sounds scary right? But I couldn't stop laughing. This smooth hammerhead (there are 10 types) would have been no bigger then 80cms. Thin like a whip, feisty as and aggressively trying to shake my bag apart. But. Those little buggy eyes. That derpy wide head. The comically small size. A quick boop on the snoot and off he went into the darkness. A 5 second interaction I'll never forget.

The second, out boat fishing with my man Diego in Geograph Bay. We got onto a heap of skippy possibly brought in by the whale washed up close by, when who should cruise up to the boat but ol Anchor again. This time, he had grown up some.

Same scenario. Not shy, right up to the boat. Watching how they move up close is fascinating. They move in this strange whip like way. Their heads pivot so differently to their relatives, like an awkward foil they somehow make look graceful. And again, with a flick of his tail, gone.

So that's the why. I like making things to burn these situations from life right into the memory box and hopefully into yours too. Something a bit more than oh hey cool shark. But here is the how.

X2 axe heads back to back (yes I threw it at a log, obviously...), X
