YOUNG — WE’RE BACK THIS SATURDAY! 🌱

Rust & Roots will be heading to the Young Markets at Anderson Park this Saturday, 5th September, from 9am–1pm with a fresh selection of our locally grown seedlings. 🌿

We’re also taking pre-orders! 🙌

If there are particular seedlings you’re chasing, send me a message before Saturday and I’ll do my best to organise your order and have it packed up, ready for you to collect from our stall.

It’s a great way to make sure you don’t miss out on what you need for the spring garden! 🌻🥕🥦🍅

Spring has officially sprung out at the property… and apparently the locals have noticed too. 🌿☀️🦎

Over the last few days we’ve started seeing some massive lizards coming out of hiding to soak up the beautiful spring sunshine — including this absolute unit we spotted stretched out on a tree. 😂

As much as we LOVE seeing them around, for us they’re also a pretty good reminder that the warmer weather is waking everything up.

Because when the lizards start coming out… we know the snakes won’t be far behind. 🐍😬

Living on a rural property means being a little more vigilant once the weather warms up — watching where we’re walking, keeping an eye around the gardens, sheds and wood piles, and reminding the kids to do the same.

Because nobody wants to accidentally step over — or ON — a brown snake enjoying exactly the same patch of sunshine. 😳

So yes… spring, we are VERY happy to see you. 🌸🌱☀️

But the appearance of our scaly little mates means snake season awareness has officially begun out here too. 🦎🐍

Country living — absolutely beautiful… but you definitely learn to read the signs nature gives you. 🤎

LOOK AT THAT SMILE!!!!! 🥹🥕💚

Today we pulled a few carrots from our raised garden beds that Todd built for us — and apparently we’ve been growing wonky donkeys. 😂

We didn’t top the soil up before planting, we definitely didn’t prepare the bed properly, and judging by those legs, these carrots had to fight for their lives down there. 🤣

But you know what? We LOVE them. 🥕🙌

They might not be supermarket-perfect, but they were grown by us, pulled straight from our garden by little hands, and they’re heading straight onto our dinner plates. That’s pretty bloody perfect if you ask me. 💚

And that proud little face says it all. 🥹
