Good morning everyone from a glorious winter morning in beautiful down town Dalby.
I came in this morning early to continue with the restoration process of 6 silky oak chairs.
So far I have completed 4 back to raw stage , yet to be polished, with 2 to go.
Once all 6 are completed i will polish them up with a clear finish to highlight the natural warm silky oak colours.
I do have a bit of a quandary in that i am unsure as to what to do with the seats on each chair.
Should I get them covered with a neutral fabric or go with a bolder alternative and look for a regency stripe or even a distinctive floral fabric?
I do have a few metres of a caramel brown fabric but am loathe to use that , I think it is too bland.
Or should I just have them covered in calico and let the potential buyer decide.
Please could everyone give me your collective thoughts on what to cover the seats with.
Thanks in advance for all help.

Good morning everyone, please let me introduce myself to you all.
My name is Clare and as you can all see i am very well presented and in immaculate condition for my age of 47 , born 1979.
Am currently residing in a quaint little antique shop in Dalby, Western Queensland and whilst the owner is very good to me I am actually now seeking a new forever home.
I am sure that i will be able to provide years of enjoyment to my new owners as I will sit proudly without complaint whilst I add a touch of class and elegance to my new home.
I am fully grown and stand 200mm high.
I can be yours for only $195 and my current owner will happily post me if required

Over the years I have restored quite a few silky oak bedside cabinets and this one would have to rank up with the best that I have seen.
It responded magnificently to restoration and now presents beautifully .

Righto, who remembers having one of these.
Tin money boxes.
Probably most of these would date from the 1960's or 70's.
Seeing the C B A money box reminds me of a time when as a fledgling electrical salesman I had sold an old bloke a radio on time payment and part of the process apart from asking the obvious questions, like name address etc., one question that required a response was what bank was he using, to wit his reply was A B C BANK.
My response was , politely, was that there was no A B C bank on Dalby, but he was adamant that he banked A B C.
A bit more discussion ensued, then in frustration he ripped out his passbook and slammed down on the desk , there he said , THE A B C BLOODY BANK!
Upon seeing the said passbook, I politely informed him that it was in fact the C B A bank, then not to be outdone, he simply replied, OH, I WALK BACKWARDS PAST IT SOMETIMES !
I was lost for words.
Footnote: His application for finance for the radio through, in those halcyon days , AGC , was declined!
Poor credit history i think was the stated reason
