This is precisely why we strongly discourage the use of w**d matting and do not recommend it for any application.

As you can see from the accompanying photographs, the plant roots have travelled along the underside of the w**d matting, spreading across the surface of the soil rather than penetrating naturally into the surrounding soil profile. This is due to the w**d matting not allowing enough water to pe*****te the soil.

Over time, this can create a dense network of surface roots, which can ultimately lead to a range of issues with plant health, soil structure and ongoing maintenance.

This customer wanted a change so the team Davidson's Tree Services removed the Azaleas and stumps.

We then got to work, removing all the old roots and giving the soil a complete refresh. The soil was reworked and revitalised, bringing some much-needed life back into the old girl! 🌿

To finish it off, we planted a beautiful mix of plants carefully selected to provide colour, varied foliage, and flowers throughout the year.

Refreshing your garden and updating your plants regularly is a great way to keep outdoor spaces feeling vibrant and inviting — without it, gardens can quickly become drab, tired, and lose their sense of interest and enjoyment.
