Our hastily rescheduled drawing day was enjoyed by some lucky members today. Perfect weather and serious views from Dungog's Hollywood Hill. All agreed is was a lovely way to spend a morning. and were keen to do it again. We'll announce further drawing days here and in our members newsletter.

After yesterday's washout of our Social Drawing date, a couple of us are going to meet up at Hollywood Hill tomorrow (Friday 14 August 2026) at 10.30am and try it out! Please join us if you fancy it. Weather is predicted to be good!

A lovely idea to remember Ruth who was DAS Treasurer for many years.

REMEMBERING RUTH - A LOCAL FUNDRAISER. We love this idea by fellow James volunteer Dianne Pope to honour the memory of local legend Ruth Dircks OAM (pictured at AGOG 2024). Ruth was a remarkable woman whose dedication to our community was truly inspiring. Ruth's contributions to science, the environment, and the arts have left an indelible mark on Dungog and its surrounding areas.

To commemorate her legacy, Dianne has set up a fundraiser to pay for the installation of a memorial seat in Jubilee Park, a place where people can pause, reflect, and remember her incredible impact. Ruth's passion and commitment were evident in her involvement with various community organizations, including the James Theatre and the Dungog Arts Society. The seat will serve as a lasting tribute to her spirit and a reminder of the positive change she fostered in our community. The proposal has been endorsed by Dungog Council.
