🧡 Families Came Together to Create, Connect and Make Something with Meaning 🧡
What a beautiful day of creativity, connection and culture! Families dropped in to enjoy a relaxed, welcoming space where they explored culture and ochre dyeing, guided by the spirit of Budla Malu’s Island stories and designs.
Using ochre sourced by Budla Malu from Quandamooka Country, participants dyed their own raffia, cut it to their preferred length and finished a pre-made keyring to take home — each one a unique keepsake filled with meaning.
Alongside the hands-on making, visitors also took time to explore the incredible exhibition CREATE EXCHANGE: Painted Up by Dean Biŋkin Tyson, making the day a rich and inspiring cultural experience for all ages.
Thank you to everyone who came along to drop in, connect and create — we loved sharing this special day with you. 🧡
Painted Up is part of a three-year project of artist-residency style exhibitions and activations, collectively titled CREATE EXCHANGE. The exhibition is presented at Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland and Redland Art Gallery, The Mezz at Redland Performing Arts Centre.
CREATE EXCHANGE is supported by Haymans Electrical and Data Suppliers, Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) and Redland Art Gallery | Redland City Council.
