A mudroom is designed for the comings and goings of everyday life. A place to drop the bags, kick off shoes, and keep the inevitable clutter from travelling into your home.

Practical by nature but never an afterthought. We love creating these smaller spaces with just as much character and personality as the rooms beyond them.

MEET THE DIRECTORS | HAYLEY & TRACEY

Two sisters, a shared love of interiors and almost 20 years in business together.

It’s been quite a journey. From travelling and exploring international design fairs to building relationships with talented artisans, suppliers and trades, we’ve learnt so much along the way. For the past decade, our East Brisbane showroom has been home to Porch Light Interiors, and we’re fortunate to share it with two talented young designers who make up our team.

There have been plenty of highs, challenges and lessons in running a small business, but also the privilege of working with incredible clients and being part of Brisbane’s design community.

As mothers of three adult children each, we know the importance of a home that works for family life. We love creating welcoming spaces for entertaining, finding clever solutions to everyday challenges and designing interiors that feel personal to the people who live in them.

Our appreciation for quality, craftsmanship and timeless design has only grown over the years, as has our belief that a beautiful home should be as practical as it is inviting.

Almost two decades on, we’re still as passionate about what we do, grateful for the people who’ve been part of our journey and excited for what lies ahead for Porch Light Interiors.

Set amongst historic villas and centuries of Italian craftsmanship, the Lake Como Design Festival 2026 offered a very different setting for contemporary design.

Hayley explored this year’s exhibitions at Villa del Grumello, Villa Saporiti and beyond, where the beauty of old meets new was highlighted.

A philosophy that continues to inform our approach to creating interiors that balance modern design with rich character, achieving a timeless appeal.

Warmth and texture was central to the evolution of this kitchen design.

The richer cabinetry brings beautiful depth, softened by creamy brown-veined stone and subtle variation of the splashback tiles. The bronze mesh-fronted cabinetry introduces a distinctly contemporary note, its texture brining an unexpected edge to the softer, organic palette.

Notes from London.

Hayley just attended this year’s London Design Festival, spending time across exhibitions, guest speakers, and showrooms across the city.

What stood out was a continued confidence in colour, pattern, and highly layered interiors as seen throughout the textiles, wallpaper, and unexpected colour combinations.

We’ve always been drawn to the English approach to interiors, particularly its sense of layering and willingness to mix old with new. It’s an influence that often informs our own work, creating homes that feel expressive and collected rather than tied to a singular aesthetic.

A bedroom that takes its cues from the landscape beyond. Earthy, layered, and connected to country life 🍃

Designed to feel as much a part of the architecture as the room itself. Through warm timber curves, creamy stone panels, a textured wallpaper backdrop and softly integrated lighting, this custom cabinetry makes the room.

Carefully crafted cabinetry is more than a space to display treasured pieces, it can make the room.

Sometimes the most memorable moments are found in the smallest rooms. A guest bathroom is the perfect opportunity for a little boldness and something unexpected.
