As our Construction Manager, Cam is the one making sure everything on site comes together exactly as it should. From coordinating trades and solving problems before they become issues, to keeping projects moving and maintaining the quality we’re known for, he’s the steady hand behind the scenes.

With years of experience and a calm, practical approach, Cam is the person our team, trades and clients rely on. He knows the details matter, communicates openly, and genuinely cares about getting the best outcome on every project.

Building and renovating is rarely straightforward but having someone on your team like Cam leading the construction process makes all the difference.

Most people don’t realise just how much site access influences a renovation.

If access is straightforward, materials can be delivered efficiently, trades can work productively and the project generally runs much more smoothly.

But on a tight site, everything takes more planning. Sometimes materials need to be carried in by hand, deliveries have to be carefully coordinated, cranes are required, or we need to work around neighbouring properties and busy streets.

These aren’t problems, they’re simply constraints that need to be understood and planned for.

That’s why we spend so much time assessing a site before work begins. The more we understand upfront, the better we can plan the build, reduce disruptions and avoid unnecessary surprises during construction.

Yet another example of why having the designer & builder working together from the beginning makes such a difference. We’re not just designing a beautiful outcome, we’re designing a project that can be built efficiently from day one.

A great renovation starts well before the design is finalised or construction begins.

As both the designer and builder, we are always thinking about how we’re actually going to build the project.

Can delivery trucks get in?
Can we get materials to the site efficiently?
Is the driveway suitable for heavy vehicles?
Where will trades park?
Where do skips and neighbours’ bins go?
Will we need a crane?
Can we protect existing landscaping?
Is there enough room to safely store materials?
How do we minimise disruption to neighbours while work is underway?

These practical details can have a huge impact on program cost and the overall success of a renovation.

Good design isn’t just about creating a beautiful home, it’s about designing something that can be built efficiently, safely and with as few surprises as possible.

C R E S E N T H O U S E ~ DA Approved 👏

A considered extension to this grand 1930s Hamilton home, designed around the way our clients actually live - entertaining, wellness, family and connection.

The brief centred around creating a new outdoor level that feels seamlessly integrated with the existing home, while introducing a more contemporary layer through the wellness spaces below. Think expansive entertaining zones, outdoor cooking, integrated landscaping, a light-filled gym retreat, sauna, ice bath and additional car accommodation, all designed to feel cohesive with the home’s traditional character.

One of the things we focused on most throughout the concept phase was balancing scale and functionality without losing the charm of the original residence. Large additions can easily feel disconnected on homes of this era, so every line, material transition and outdoor connection was carefully considered.

Excited to share more of this one as it progresses.
