Dear friends
We did what we always do on a Sunday, we went to the Vic Market. We alway come home with fish, and meat for the week. We stop and have a coffee, we’ll l don’t have a coffee, l have replaced it it with a chocolate milk shake which is delicious.

Each year l make a year book. Means we have a book to look and l can clear my photos from m iPad. I am hoping to make in the next few weeks, l am heading down with a friend, she is putting one together too.

At the moment l am reading reading this book. Each week the author writes to his son, filling in what he has done during the week. I do most of my reading at night in bed, have been known to fall asleep in the middle of a chapter.

We have 6 Burch trees in the back yard. I am trying to make the garden a bit easier to manage. So l have been in touch with out tree loppers to have them cut down. Hopefully l will end up with some good mulch.

Enjoy the rest of your night

Dear friends

Happy New Year to everyone.
We celebrated on Christmas Day and then again on Boxing Day with Sam and Annie and the Grandkids. We enjoyed both days.

Ray decided to do a Spring Clean, so l joined in, l cleaned up my office and the shop. I have also spent a lot of time in the garden. We have a big garden and l have decided that l am going to re jig the garden down the back of the yard. A friend of mine had a look and has given me some ideas which will make it much easier to keep it under control. I plan on planting in Autumn.

We have our Hard Rubbish pink up in March. We have a big area under the house where we can store everything so it’s not an eyesore. I love it if people fossick around and take what they can use.

We had a Crimson Rosella who drops in for a drink at a bird bath. We have 4 shallow bird baths around the yard, we don’t feed them but we are happy top them up each day. Often a group will arrive to drink or just play.

It’s loverly to watch.

Thanks to those who made payments for this years Quilt Camp. I always enjoy the weekend away with the girls. If you are coming please join the group so you know what’s going on.

Enjoy the rest of your night.

Dear friends

We live on a main road, l love it. One of the reasons l love it is if l have something l no longer want l can just leave it on the nature strip and cross my fingers that someone can use it. I had 2 large plant pots that l no longer need. They went within an hour. I am pleased that they have a new home and won’t end up at the tip.

Picked a vase of flowers, l get a lot of the white lilies, l have never had these dark purple ones. If anyone knows if this is common would you mind letting me know.

Christmas is not far off so l thought l would share so of our decorations. This decoration opens up and creates nice little house.

We have an arbor near the house. The birds enjoy it, today we had a kookaburra visit. They often call in, they like to grab a worm or two.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.
Warm regards

Dear friends

I have realised that l haven’t posted for a long time, l have given myself a good talking to, here goes…..

Last Saturday Ray went to the races with his sisters, it meant that l had the house to myself and so I decided to spend the day putting up my Christmas decorations. I can make as much mess as l like and there is no one to interrupt.

I have made a couple of Christmas quilts, to be honest, l have made more than a few. There is one in the lounge room, one on our bed, there’s another one in our dining room, a couple in the shop. There are a few other bits here and there . The tree is lit up.

Several years ago we decided we would change things around. Rather than buy for each other we would buy our own gifts, they are hidden until Christmas Eve. We share a bottle of bubbles and take it in turns to open our gifts. It is so much easier than trying to come up with something that you think they may like. I am very happy with what l have chosen.

Just picked a couple of my roses.

The cricket has just finished, well done Australia 🇦🇺

Dear friends

I haven’t touched base with you, thought it was time that l did.

I have the news on, it’s all about kids and the amount of time they spend on their phones, l am glad my boys are in their 40s, we didn’t have to deal with these sort of things, l sound like an old fart, actually, l am an old fart!

I have been working on a part of the garden, it’s a big space. I know the man who is going to do the work, l taught him in prep, in fact l taught all his sisters as well.

He called in to look at the space and has just let me know he is making a start tomorrow. I am looking forward to it, it’s the last part of the garden that has needed to be cleaned up.

I am working on another scrap quilt, l think l am addicted to them. I have started thinking about my next quilt which by the way is not a scrap quilt. I want to make a rainbow quilt. l have picked my colours, now l need to decide on the template.

During the week l saw the that Bunnings were involved in Share the Dignity. I looked into it to see what it was about. Is is simple, you fill a handbag with things that women need. I have several handbags that have been tucked away in the cupboard, l use the same couple of bags. Then l went to our chemist and one of the girls picked out all the things she thought would be useful. I dropped it off at Bunnings yesterday. Now that l know about this l will grab things during the year. When l run out of bags l will visit Op Shops.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Dear friends

It feels like l haven’t written to you for ages, this is what has been happening.

First of all l want to tell you about one of our neighbours.
Got a note in our letter box saying that one of the kids was having a party. I was pleased that they l us know. Now l am not sure if the parents were home, l doubt it and why you ask? Let me tell you, the party went until 3 am. Not much sleep at our house. Should this happen again we will be ringing the police, l do the garden at, will chat to them tomorrow and see what they say. 👨🏻‍✈️🧑🏼‍✈️

Do you throw your scraps out. I don’t, instead l make nothing quilts. This is one l am working on at the moment. The only fabric l am taking off the shelf is the green.

Thank you to those who have put their names down for next years Quilt Camp. We still have room if you would like to join us. I hold it at the C*C camp at Cowes.

We can get in at 4: pm Friday, and we finish up at 3pm on the Sunday.

Dear friends

I have just finished reading a book that l read years ago called Black Like Me by John Howard Griffin. It’s about a man who with the help of a doctor darkens his skin. Long story short he is classed a second class citizen. If you get a chance to read it .

I spent a day in the garden yesterday, l am clearing one part of weeds so that we can
plant a lawn. I am not in rush, aiming to plant it in autumn.

Now you may be wondering about the next picture, it doesn’t look as bad as it is. We have had a wombat come up from the creek down the back of our next door neighbours, when he got to the top he had a choice, left or right, he turned right, headed down our drive and dug a hole. It will be interesting to see if he visits again tonight.

I have been adding fabric my website, all was going well until it stopped working.. l have tried and tried without any luck, so l will have to get my lady in to sort the problem.

Windy all of a sudden, hopefully we will get some rain.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Dear friends

I have spent a good part of my holidays working in our garden. The gardens l do with friends in Main Street look great. Realised our garden has been neglected, Ray does the mowing, l feel like l’ve let the team down, but l am back!

Several weeks ago l picked up some mixed bulbs and flowers. I planted them l thought l mixed them up, as you can see l could have done a better job but l am still happy with them.

While l was wandering around l grabbed some flowers to put in a little vase I the kitchen.

I have spent a lot of time tarting up my website, something else that needed some love. I am nowhere near finished. I made a start and then decided l could do better. I am happy with what l a doing. It’s a big job but if l aim at 6 six a day there something new for me you to see.

The red floral has been a headache. I have a bolt of blue from the same range, had no problem getting that on the site. The red is from the same range, different colour, different pattern, shouldn’t be that hard. It keeps coming up with the blue pic. I will leave it be for a couple of days and see if l can trick the computer.

I have enjoyed my chat.

Warm regards
Kaz.

Oh and by the way, Thursday night Sewing Circle is on tomorrow night.

Dear friends

I have been working in my gardening any chance l get, to be honest l have neglected it , other things have got in the way. We have 2 green bins, l have filled them both an could easily fill another 2. Decided l would bite the bullet and ask my next door neighbour if l could use his bin. I have never seen him garden, he has never put the green bin out, it is pristine. It took a while for him to answer the door, the long and short of my story, he won’t let me have it.

Today we took Nina to the movies. She enjoyed and we enjoyed spending time with her. After the movie we called into a shop that she likes. She knows she can have two things, it’s lovely watching her make her decisions.

Took a pic of the tulips the girls and l planted. The locals appreciate what we do an we enjoy doing it.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Dear friends

Started my day with a walk and coffee with friends. These ladies have recently had birthdays, they are the ones that l gave five weeks of coffees. After coffee we continued with our Main Street gardening. Today we tidied up some planter boxes next to Friends on the Hill. Will make sure that l pack my broom tomorrow so l can do a bit of sweeping.

A couple of friends and l went to the Cameo, our local picture theatre to see Downton Abbey.

Sam and the grandkids arrived just as l got home. That’s them, the little one’s day care had footy day yesterday, she wore her dad’s jumper, l have kept it all this time, Nina wore it a couple of years ago.

I have been re reading some books l read years ago. Just finished Letters from Motherless Daughters. Just between you and me, l did a bit of crying, my mother died in 1997, l have outlived both parents.

I am starting another one of my books that l read a long time ago, it’s called Black like Me.

Enjoy the rest of your night.

Dear friends

I have been having trouble with my IPad, l have been trying to fix it but couldn’t work out what was wrong with it. The football has just finished so l handed it over to Ray and he fixed it in a blink so now l can tell you what l have been up to.

I have spent hours in the few weeks putting fabric on my website. I am almost there, there. If you need anything let me know. I had a group of ladies call in a few weeks ago call in, they were happy with what they got and l was happy too.

My Main Street gardening friends and l have been working at
the Monbulk Police garden. We didn’t ask if we could but no one has said we couldn’t so we have just gone ahead.

I am now on holidays for two weeks. I plan to spend time in our garden. There is a lot of weeding and pruning to be done, the reward is a visit to my local nursery. We are taking Nina to a movie followed by a visit to one of the shops she likes to visit.

It has just started raining, should make it easier to pull out the weeds.

Almost time to head off to bed.
Cheers
Karen

Dear friends

I haven’t done a post for a while, the reason being, l have been putting fabric on my website. Might be worth a visit, every thing is $20.00 a metre. I will continue adding fabric until l am done.

I am currently reading a book that’called Letters from Motherless Daughters, it’s a re read for me, it still brings a tear to my eyes. It’s a good read .

I spend a lot of time in the garden in Main Street Monbulk with a small team of girls A few weeks ago we decided that our local police station needed some tarting up. We didn’t ask for permission but that didn’t stop us. So our team meets for a couple of hours each week. Some local blokes have come in and cut down 2 trees for us. We have pruned some plants just to tidy them up. Yesterday we were sanding hand rails, Mitre 10 kindly donated a can of green paint, so next week that’s what we will be doing next week. . I am sure that one of our local nurseries will donate plants, he is a good man. I will touch base with him next week.

I have spent the day in my garden, it needs some love, some of the plants are starting to bloom, came across this today, there are still lots of buds ready to open .
