In the realm of early learning, guiding and teaching are intertwined with the magical art of pedagogy. This mystical term, steeped in the lore of education, refers to the methods and practices used by the enchanters of knowledge, derived from their values, beliefs, cultural perspectives, and knowledge.

In this enchanted realm, it is crucial for educational practitioners to weave a tapestry of diverse pedagogical perspectives. By embracing these perspectives, the practitioners can craft a learning environment that is inclusive and caters to the needs of all children. These perspectives encompass not only teaching methods but also beliefs about childhood, learning, and development, providing a holistic approach to teaching and learning.

As the practitioners weave their magic, children are bestowed with the gifts of creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. In this enchanted realm, children develop a love for learning, unlocking the doors to their full potential. Thus, the alchemy of pedagogy, infused with diverse perspectives, brings forth a magical realm where children flourish and thrive.

Designing spaces needs to be more than adhering to the regulatory requirements and including the functional facilities. How we feel in a space is connected to how we behave in a space and ultimately connected to the experience we have in that space.
The article written by Marillia Matoso discusses the term "neuroarchitecture"

What would spaces look like if architects designed buildings based on the emotions, healing and happiness of the user?

When you are renovating your existing early learning environment or opening a new one , you have the opportunity to create a vision that aligns with your pedagogy. We help to develop your design brief that informs all of the design decisions during the development of the concept design.

During the construction phase the design brief is developed into a Physical Environment Identity document.

The Physical Environment Identity document supports decision making and continues to grow with your pedagogy.

Making the time and space to develop these documents before you approach an architect means you will have more information to communicate in regards to how you think children will learn, the style you are after, how educators will use the space and how children and families needs will be met.

McKay Children's Centre Penola has beautifully displayed their respect for children in the development of their outdoor learning spaces. This is a wonderful precedent study of how children’s thoughts and ideas can inspire design. The inclusion of the child’s voice within the design validates their ideas and inspires them to provide adults with further information on how they learn and what they need.
