Hi, I'm Alison, owner of The Little French Provincial Shop and creator of Artisan Paints. My passion is for recreating beauty in time-worn vintage and antique furniture. Blue and white. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of it.

It works with timber, linen, old silver, painted furniture — and somehow always feels fresh while still having that lovely country-house character.

This sweet blue and white jug and bowl are among the new pieces in the shop.

It’s often the little things that make a home interesting.

A pair of wonderfully simple pears, old timber, little ducks and equestrian pieces — none of them need to “match”. They just need to be things you enjoy looking at.

That collected-over-time feeling is one of my favourite ways to style a home.

Could this be a new line coming to the shop?

There’s been a little experimenting happening behind the scenes at The Little French Provincial Shop today…

Hand-poured soy candles in beautiful amber glass, with some rather gorgeous fragrances being tested.

I’m thinking they could be a lovely addition to the shop — especially with Christmas approaching.

What do you think? Should we add our own candle range to the shelves?

In just four short weeks, every one of these pieces has found its forever home.

There’s something rather lovely about seeing a piece leave the shop knowing it’s about to begin another chapter in someone else’s home. Thank you to everyone who has visited, browsed, chatted, shared our posts and taken a little piece of The Little French Provincial Shop home with you.

Some pieces really do stop you in your tracks.

This beautiful French-style chest has the softest aged blue-green finish, elegant curved front and just enough detail to give it character without becoming fussy.

It’s the sort of piece that could work beautifully in a bedroom, hallway or living room — and give you a very useful amount of storage at the same time.

A little bit of Paris has arrived in Gundaroo…

I couldn’t resist this fabulous vintage-style Avenue des Champs-Élysées sign.

It’s exactly the sort of piece I love finding for the shop — something small and unexpected that instantly adds a little French character to a kitchen, garden room, hallway or gallery wall.

And it’s just one of lots of new pieces that have been making their way into the shop lately.

There’s something rather lovely about the shop spilling out into the garden.

A French-style iron bench, old urns, pots, little tables and pieces that make an outdoor space feel collected rather than “decorated”.

We’ve been moving things around again and there are plenty of new finds tucked both inside and outside the shop.

Another one SOLD and heading to its new home. 🤍

This fabulous old dressing table certainly wasn’t shy — with its trio of mirrors, beautiful original details and wonderfully unusual shape, it was always going to need just the right person.

And today, that person found it.

I love that about old furniture. Not every piece needs to appeal to everyone. Sometimes it simply sits patiently until its person walks through the door.

Another beautiful piece leaving The Little French Provincial Shop — and another space for me to fill. Which, as you can imagine, is not a hardship. 😂
