Bloodknot orders ready for shipping to Queensland, the USA, Norway and either West Africa or Germany (Double checking the address the customer gave me)

I’ve had an influx of orders and I’m currently all but out of my yarn in natural tones. I’ve ordered more but it won’t arrive until July. I’ve added notes to my website.

Cheers folks

Three orders under way, one to the Sea Scouts of America (50 hanks and lots more walking to do), one to a return customer in France (24 hanks, be finished in about two hours) and one to a return customer in Tasmania (Seven hanks, finished). Two will be posted today and lots more walking to do. But it’s supposed to be a nice 30 degrees Celsius today so it’s a nice day for a walk.

Blood Knot and friends attended the Paynesville Classic Boat Rally (27/02 - 01/03). Great weekend and very successful for the organisers with an estimated 14000 visitors. In addition to rope making we had knotting and lace making demonstrations and spinners who supplied some of their yarn for rope making. Very hot weather requiring some amber refreshments at days end, but a very worthwhile event.

Just finished my latest project, a memory box with a Sennit frame lid. The inside is flocked (careful there). It was made as a gift for a friend for whom red, white and blue are quite meaningful so I incorporated the colours in a fairly subtle way.
The Sennit’s from the outside in are all from Graumont and Hensel’s Encyclopaedia of Knots and Fancy Ropework, #339, 16 strand Alternating sennit, #361, 21 strand Interlacing Sennit, #366, 14 Strand cross Weave Sennit and #286, 8 strand Interwoven Sennit. The corners are a single strand rectangular mat combined with Ashley Book of Knots #2338 (Thanks to John Trevvett for inspiration on the corners). About 80 metres of 1.5mm cotton cord from Blood Knot.

Well, that was a job. I just tidied up the Blood Knot website and added some new colours in cotton yarn. Do me a favour and have a look if you get a chance.

Purple, Lilac, Light Brown, Turquoise, Grey and several new blended colours

Not the best ex*****on but I wanted to see if I could do it. I just used scraps of rope I had laying around so the colours don’t match but here it is, a walking stick made from rope.

Two lengths of 12mm Manila rope inlaid then relaid along a length of 8mm threaded galvanised rod. The Manila then painted with resin (it needs another coat now the rest of the fancy rope work has been done.

If I make another one, I won’t use crowning on the handle, no mater how I tried, I couldn’t get it any more neat.

It will however serve its purpose.

First shipment to the US since the change in tariff rules that now effect purchases under $USD800.00. It’s a bit more convoluted but I think I’ve done it correctly.

The rope is mainly cotton but there’s a couple of cotton blends. 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm each between 11 & 12 metres in length.

I'm very happy to say that Australia Post has resumed shipping to the US, which means I can too. Whoopee!!!!. Unfortunately, due to tariffs and US handling fees, US customers will have 11% (AUD) added to products they purchase. I don't like this anymore than you do but it's totally beyond my control. The added 11% will be removed from products bound for the US as soon as (hopefully) the tariffs are removed.
