Hey there πŸ‘‹

It feels like a good time to reintroduce myself for anyone new around here. I’m Cartier β€” the founder and owner of Grace + Marie. Here are 10 fun facts about me (and the brand) you might not know:

1. I started this business in the kitchen of my share house back in 2017.

2. I never actually planned to start a business β€” it all organically grew from what was only ever meant to be a hobby.

3. I’ve lived in four countries: Australia, Kenya, England and Austria.

4. I went to boarding school in England for four years. Fun fact: Margaret Thatcher’s daughter went to the same school… not at the same time as me obviously πŸ˜‚

5. I’m a bit of a β€œfinger in all the pies” type with a Bachelor of Journalism, a Diploma of Fitness, a Certificate IV in Nutrition and Dietetic Assistance, and a Certificate III in Frontline Management.

6. Alongside this business I also co-own a cafΓ© in Geelong with my sister - , come check it out sometime, you’ll even find my candles stocked there - as well as instruct at .

7. I’m a girl mum to a 4.5-year-old and a 2.5-year-old (who are wearing the most gorgeous handmade dresses in the photo by one of my oldest friends, 🌼).

8. I’ve always thought I have the coolest birthday as it’s halfway through the month, the year and the decade.

9. I have the Grace + Marie logo tattooed on my body. Commitment to the brand!

10. Recently I made a promise to myself to start β€œdating myself” β€” relearning who I am and making time to do things I enjoy. If you’ve got any solo activities you love doing, I’d love to hear them.

Choosing to support a small business over a large department store is never a small decision. It is personal. It is powerful. And it makes a genuine difference.

When you shop small, you are not adding to a corporate bonus or funding a super yacht. You are backing someone’s dream and the hands that carefully create each product.

In this case, one candle might cover my daughter’s swimming lessons for the week.
Two candles go towards our groceries.
