MEET THE ARTISAN. Juanita..
​From making Barbie doll clothes on a toy sewing machine to spinning wool by age 10, Juanita’s life has been shaped by creativity. Her love for craft was sparked early by her great-Aunt and Nanna, eventually leading her to design and sew her own clothes.

​Juanita is also a qualified archaeologist—which explains her incredible patience and attention to detail!

​Originally from the Gold Coast, she relocated to George Town in 2023. She’s become a wonderful part of our community, volunteering at the Bass & Flinders Centre and serving as secretary for Outer Cove Creative Inc.

​When she isn’t hanging out with her partner and their Kelpie, Possum, Juanita pours her skills into designing and making Wheelie Walker bags, handmade paper, and crochet among other things.

The secret is finally out! 💕

​We have been holding onto some wonderful news until the safe arrival of two special little ones. A huge, heartfelt congratulations to Home and Away favorite, Lynne McGranger, who has officially announced she is a grandmother! Her daughter Clancy has welcomed beautiful twin baby girls into the world. 👶🏼👶🏼

​A few months ago, Lynne’s lovely friends, Lou and Jim, purchased a gorgeous, heirloom pink baby shawl from us at George Town Art and Artisans. Because they knew Lynne was expecting twin granddaughters, they asked if we could custom-craft a second, identical shawl so each baby girl would have her very own.

​We were absolutely delighted to help, and we are thrilled to hear that both Lynne and Clancy loved them.

​As seen in the photo we were sent, Lynne looks absolutely radiant holding the two matching pink shawls crafted by our amazing Elaine! 🌸

​We want to take this opportunity to extend our warmest wishes and sweetest blessings to Clancy, Lynne, and the beautiful new arrivals. Welcome to the world, little ones!

Hand crafted by Kaija is this heavily textured vessel in a wrap-around spiral pattern that mimics a natural hollow tree and the wood bark of the She Oak Tree.

~~ MEET THE ARTIST~~...... Glass by Jak .....

No other medium excites my full expression of intense light and colour as does glass. It’s a dance between control and unpredictability. I play with light and shade to create durable art with permanent vibrant colour.

My passion for Glass Arts has evolved from a background in learning and teaching Art, Crafts and Design.

I continue to learn as I experiment in Fused Glass and Stained Glass. I am inspired by the beauty of nature and the passing Palawa seasons at my home in Bell Buoy Beach, Tasmania.
