12 weeks can feel like a lifetime when you're 3!

However there are some things, that we here at Grounded, feel are worth the wait and this adorable customer quite agrees!

🌱🥦 There are countless studies that show when kids and families grow their own veg - everyone eats more of them.

I cant think of a reason not to try!

You may have noticed we've been pretty quiet of late. A combination of winter, the loss of two greenhouses to the elements, the lockdown blues and a heap of changes in our personal circumstances has meant we have had to take a break from growing and selling seedlings.

We love growing our own vegetables and are still so passionate about sharing that with others so as we begin to thaw out we hope to make a return in the spring, ready with new varieties and old favourites, grown right here locally in the Macedon Ranges.

You may have received or admired one of our gift packs in a beautiful handmade wooden box. These boxes are made from recycled wood by a local father/daughter team right here in Gisborne. They have some other great designs that include carry handles and take orders directly for the wooden boxes if you'd like to add to your collection or already have some potted flowers and would like a unique way to display them. Have your Nasturtiums succumbed to the frost too? Don’t despair, there is a reason Nasturtium is the companion plant we all must have. Not only are her leaves and flowers edible, her seeds are better than any caper, lift up your bush and collect as many as you can. Set some aside for your gardens come spring then put the rest in a quick pickle. Throw in some dill and wait 2-3 weeks. You won’t be disappointed!

Like many, we took a good beating with the wild weather last night. We tried our best to secure what we could but unfortunately this is all that remains of the green house and a large quantity of our seedlings 😢 We managed to save many of our current stock and whilst not many will be planning a jolly weekend of planting in the yard we hope to be able to supply you when the dust settles! 😢 😭 🍃 That wind is strong and it certainly did a number on our greenhouse. We lost a lot of our winter stock which may cause delays down the track but rest assured we will keep planting and growing and looking after what has survived so that we can provide high quality seedlings for your garden beds soon! Thankfully our hardened off seedlings that are ready to go were safe in another location!

Did you know we can customize your seeded gift cards with names or any message stamped inside or out? Some of our gift packs went out this week to kids in metro lockdown to brighten their day. We made sure the recipe cards were perfect for kids - red velvet beetroot pancakes!

We have now have seeded cards from Paper Go Round, a small business right here in Melbourne, with native Swan River Daisy and some with herb mix too! We add the unique hand drawn designs. Add them to a gift pack or purchase on their own. We can post these cards anywhere in Aus.
