Neuroarchitecture drew some fantastic interest at Sydney Build 2026! It was a pleasure to engage with industry leaders and meet new faces along the way. A big thanks to for providing a platform where ideas like this can spark real conversations.

It was great to connect with Brett Mickan,Mehwish Kazim, Louisa La Macchia, Sam Gohari, and Suzie Ferreira who presented right before me, and to see my friends Jane Langof and Eddie there. I also really enjoyed catching up with MMC crowd, making big difference in the way we build in AU.

Here’s to more ideas, more collaboration, and more friendships in the making!

Every year I think Sydney Build has raised the bar.

Then the next year arrives, and somehow they raise it again.

This year I am wearing a few hats at Sydney Build 2026:

Ambassador
Speaker
Women in Construction Ambassador
Diversity in Construction Ambassador
Sustainability in Construction Changemaker
And for the first time, Cocoplum is featured in the Architect’s Hub.

My main focus will be my workshop:

Strategic Design: Merging Aesthetics with Enhanced Outcomes
30 April 2026
1:00 PM – 1:50 PM
ICC Sydney
Architecture & Design Workshops

I’ll be talking about how design can move beyond aesthetics and start influencing behaviour, wellbeing and long-term value.

Light.
Air.
Acoustics.
Flow.
Biophilic design.
Neuroarchitecture.
Spaces that feel better because they work better.

If you are coming to Sydney Build, please come and say hello after the workshop. I’d love to connect, chat, and hear what you are working on.

See you at ICC Sydney on 29–30 April.

Luxury isn’t a finish. It’s a feeling.

Last weekend at the , hosted my keynote - my first talk since publishing Designing for Health & Wealth. Many people came expecting a conversation about expensive materials, design trends, and the secrets of luxury homes.

Instead, I shared something that surprises many people:

Sometimes the 1% get luxury wrong… expensively.

I’ve walked through extraordinary homes filled with marble, gold finishes and statement lighting, yet something felt off. Not visually — emotionally. Within minutes the space felt cold, almost uncomfortable.

Our brains read environments instantly. Temperature, light, texture and spatial cues quietly signal whether a space feels safe and welcoming. Neuroarchitecture and wellness design explore how those signals influence mood and behaviour.

This is also why biophilic design matters. Natural materials, balanced light and organic patterns help the body relax before the mind even notices.

If you’re curious, try this at home: stand quietly in a room and ask yourself one simple question.

Does my body soften here, or stay alert?

That subtle reaction often tells you more about a space than any expensive finish ever will.

I don’t usually post personal, but after what happened in Bondi, this feels important.
Last night at our “inner circle” Christmas dinner, one table held Turkish, Greek, Australian, British, Irish, South African and Ecuadorian roots. Different backgrounds, one community.
Bondi has been heartbreaking and deeply confronting. It’s also a reminder that fear doesn’t get to decide who we are. We do, in the way we care for each other, include each other, and keep our hearts open.
Wishing you and your loved ones a safe, peaceful Christmas, and a New Year filled with connection, hope and kindness.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

THE REAL LUXURY ISN'T THE PRICE TAG. 🤫
It's the feeling.
If a room tightens your jaw or shortens your breath, it doesn’t matter how expensive the finishes are. You’ve felt it—that room with the "bad vibe."
Your nervous system is your first client. 🧠
Luxury that ignores the nervous system is just décor.
That’s why I design for light, sound, texture, and views that literally tell your body: you’re safe here.
The result? When guests feel regulated, they linger, sleep deeper, and spend with confidence. That’s design that pays and restores. ✨

SAVE THIS POST for your next fitout brief, and share it with someone whose space needs a vibe check.

Yesterday my futuristic builder friend was talking about modular construction.

Today I saw this news that first overseas manufactured modular houses are build in Melbourne. FINALLY!
China-made homes assembled in Melbourne in a first for the city - realestate.com.au https://share.google/M0CcHV8JRTp4skkih

Here the thing:

Australia is making significant progress in recognising the value of modular construction. While it may think its building standards are unique, many countries have their own standards and still sourcing modular construction globally.

and now it is changing....
first overseas manufactured houses are built in Melbourne.

Australian standards? Don't worry, still safe!

Here is how?

Boxareno is not the only player in the global custom modular manufacturing sector for complex projects ; many companies worldwide. We are used to manufacturing in every single country standards. Australia is just realising that this has been the global game for long time, after all challenges within the housing sector.

For effective custom modular project ex*****on, consider the following approaches:
- For small projects, utilise a local modular company to promote sustainability.
- For larger projects, be mindful that manufacturing in Australia can be costly due to the limited number of scalable factories. It may be beneficial to choose a trusted overseas supplier experienced in custom architectural design_ serving globally!

This strategy is vital, as these suppliers are adept at adapting to different building standards across countries. Furthermore, they can provide significant savings through their global purchasing power, facilitating faster builds with higher quality at competitive prices.

These overseas manufactured homes are in Australian standards and checked in Australia for building standards as part of normal Australian construction process. Possible with overseas manufactured modulars because prefab is not different than traditional construction at all.

Best way to start design is to check out what your brain and biology wants not catalogues. Beauty comes next.

Your nervous system is the quiet guest in every room. ✨

It doesn’t wait for you to notice the décor—it decides instantly.
Is this space safe? Restorative? Or does it drain me?

🌱 That’s why true wellness design begins with biology, not styling.
Light, sound, scent, and texture regulate your body every day—whether you realise it or not.
This is the heart of biophilic design + neuroarchitecture:

Interiors that don’t just look good, but heal.

Calming the heartbeat.
Sharpening focus.
Extending rest.

✨ So tell us—how does your nervous system respond to your space right now? Calm… or restless? 👇

All-white minimalism looks calm on a screen—but in real life, it often feels clinical. 🕊️

The nervous system craves contrast, warmth, and texture. Linen that softens sound, timber that warms the eye, a touch of greenery that restores focus. Without them, serenity slips into sterility.

This is quiet depth: minimalism that’s uncluttered yet alive, soothing yet stimulating, beautiful and biologically intelligent. 🌿

✨ Calm isn’t colorless. True wellness design engages the senses while quieting the mind.

Do you feel restored in white-only spaces, or do you crave warmth and texture? ⬇️

Step inside, and your breath slows.

The light feels softer, the air calmer - a quiet reminder that design can change biology as much as it changes a room.

🧠 This isn’t indulgence. It’s ROI.

Wellness interiors invite loyalty in hotels, longevity in homes, and clarity in workplaces.

At Cocoplum, we design for the nervous system: circadian light, biophilic textures, soundscapes that soothe, and materials that remind you of nature. Because when a space restores you, it also restores value.

💬 If your space could give something back, more calm, more focus, or more connection, which return would you choose first? 🌿
