‘Oooo Mallacoota!’

I’m incredibly excited and grateful to share that I have been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Teacher Artist in Residence (TAIR) Program.

From 4–18 July, I’ll be based at the Mallacoota Arts Centre, continuing my exploration of coastlines, geology, wild clay and material connections to place. This residency provides dedicated time and space for Visual Arts educators to develop their own creative practice, and I’m honoured to be part of it.

A sincere thank you to Mallacoota Art Space and the Mallacoota Arts Council for supporting this opportunity. I’m looking forward to immersing myself in the landscape, researching, collecting and making, and sharing the journey along the way.

Stay tuned for updates from Mallacoota.

The ocean calls.

The shifting edge between land and sea. It is the sound of waves, the scent of salt carried in the air, the textures of rock shaped by time and tide.

Holding clay gathered from Wombarra, I am reminded of the connections that exist between place, memory and material. The ocean has always been, and will continue to be, part of me… its rhythms, its persistence, and its capacity to hold both presence and absence.

I find solace in being by the ocean.

The first sculpture from a new series heads into its glaze firing.

Layers upon layers of glaze, countless decisions, and a fair amount of crossed fingers. At this point, the kiln gets the final say.

We’ll see what comes back.

Loved my time by the ocean yesterday. A small moment captured here — watching an octopus in a rock pool. An unexpected and unique find, made my day.

For all the times I’ve lost my groove and found it again — this one speaks loudly.

A reminder that the first take is never the one. It’s in the reworking, the pushing, the figuring it out.

Really excited about this piece from yesterday. Keen to start exploring glazing possibilities and see where it takes me.

Dry offcuts today started to look a lot like the layered rock stacks along Wombarra Beach. Funny how scraps can suddenly feel like the start of a new idea rather than leftovers.
