Krishna’s love for cows often has him referred to as Venugopala or Gopala Krishna. The figure depicts Krishna, the Hindu god of compassion, love, and joy, playing his characteristic flute while the sacred cow stands beside or behind him.
Symbolism
Divine Love & Compassion: Krishna's close bond with the cow, which is considered sacred in Hinduism ("Gau Mata" or mother cow), symbolizes unconditional love, nurturing care, and compassion for all living beings.
Protection & Abundance: The image represents Krishna as "Gopala" (caretaker of cows), signifying divine protection and the granting of wishes, as cows are associated with Kamadhenu, the divine wish-fulfilling cow that embodies wealth and prosperity.
Peaceful Living: The depiction of Krishna in the serene pastoral setting of Vrindavan, where he spent his youth as a cowherd, reminds devotees to find joy in simple living and harmony with nature.

These two plates are part of a series of paintings commissioned by Aadicraft in their latest collection.
Plate 1- Ganesha is widely revered as the god of new beginnings, wisdom, and the remover of obstacles.
The painting portrays Ganesha seated on a lotus flower, which is a common symbol in Hinduism.
He is shown with multiple arms, holding various symbolic items such as an axe and a spear, and a bowl of modak (sweet dumplings).
The vibrant colors and intricate details are characteristic of miniature paintings and traditional Indian art styles.

Plate 2: This is a painting depicting the Hindu deity Heramba Ganapati (Ganesha), also known as Simhavahana Lord Heramba, who is a five-headed manifestation of Ganesha that rides a lion.
The five-headed form represents the supreme protective aspect of the deity.
The lion mount, or simhavahana, is a symbol of his mother, the goddess Durga ( a manifestation of Parvati). Two of his consorts Riddhi and Siddhi can also be seen in this plate making it a unique composition.

AADICRAFT... ancient handmade traditions...

Hi Friends, I would like to showcase my hobby and passion which also has become a side hustle now... As a designer I was always interested in collecting artefacts at places of my travel... During my travels I came across many artisans from unexpected frontiers like tribal communities, village crafts persons and it was always an enriching experience to learn from them... Spending time with them and wondering how with such minimal resources they can create such great objects of beauty and symbolism...

A love of handmade art brought me closer to the techniques of humble artisans and their life… I spent many a day trying to observe them at work. I was really impressed with the tools, methods and the process that they use to make each artefact. Each artefact going through series of different processes depending on the material used. The beauty of handmade is that each article is totally unique and different form any other even if they are following a similar pattern or design. This also helps to improvise on the same design again and again, sometimes over generations, thus perfecting each aspect of the design, be it aesthetic or functional.

This is when we, me and my wife Ish*ta, decided to open Aadicraft… ‘Aadi’ in Sanskrit means ‘ancient’ or ‘since the beginning’ and Craft generally refers to ‘handmade’… This is a platform that allows us to indulge in our love for the artefacts and helps the folk artisans to showcase their art to general audience…

These artefacts are for sale now...
