This artwork (incorporating salvaged paperbark from a Melaleuca linariifolia) is a representation of how transformative nature can be in the wake of devastation.
It depicts a fire scarred bushland where blackened timber and ash dominate. And yet beneath the devastation new life emerges.
This work explores the parallel between the regenerative power of the Australian bushland and the indomitable spirit of the Australian people. It mirrors a nation intimately forged through trial, drought and fire and honours the Australian people whose strength, mateship and endurance is as deep-rooted as the land itself.
