WARM PUDDLES •

Located in the Bird Streets of the Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, Warm Puddles is a considered reworking of a mid-century dwelling by Zyme Studios, deeply attuned to its hillside setting.

The architecture takes a reductive approach, with an earthy palette of timber and stone allowing the home to dissolve into its natural surroundings. Wrapped around an open courtyard that settles into the hillside, the residence is structured around pools of daylight, creating a quiet sequence of connected spaces.

Architecture and interiors by Zyme Studios, Warm Puddles has been recognised with multiple architectural awards and featured in The Local Project Issue No. 21, as well as est living.

A Day In The Life • Stradbroke Island

Today took us over to Stradbroke Island, just a little way from home, for a visit to 9 Palms, one of our completed homes, alongside a site visit for an ongoing project.

There’s a growing language of contemporary architecture across the island, with homes that feel considered and restrained while remaining deeply connected to their surroundings. Natural materials, quiet palettes and an approach that lets the landscape do the talking.

Of course, our favourite site manager Billie joined us for the day. And naturally, no Straddie trip is complete without a stop at The Prawn Shack for their stunning prawn rolls.

A pretty perfect day on site. We’re looking forward to bringing this next one to life.

HEADLINER •

Set on Kombumerri Country in Burleigh Waters, Queensland, Headliner is a contemporary residential project by Studio Brie defined by an expressive approach to colour, materiality and curation.

The design takes cues from the atmosphere of music curation, ‘a home that unfolds like the perfect music festival line-up’, where bold colours, rich textures, sculptural furniture and statement lighting are brought together with a sense of rhythm and individuality.

Mosaic detailing and framed connections to the landscape reinforce the home’s architectural character, while the owner’s art collection adds a deeply personal layer to the interiors. Designed by Donovan + Co with interiors by Studio Brie and built by Joint Builders, Headliner has received architectural recognition and has been featured in The Design Files.
