Our clients had a request, it wasn’t a surprise as we get this a lot, “please can we colour our floor to match our cabinetry?”
The answer is yes, and this is how. We use a system from Rubio Monocoat Australia | Timber Coatings which has a vast colour range to choose from. We are lucky to have a stockist Painted Earth Byron Bay nearby who supply us without fail a product that meets requests. This is a European oak plank from Hurford’s with Light Roast being the colour chosen, a beautiful match for a beautiful home Rob Garwood rebeccagarwood_ 🤎

The design of this home and its floors from Desa Bell is something truely special.
Showcasing Rubio Monocoat oil with Bourbon being the choice of colour, this highlights the grain structure whilst takes away the natural cream tones in the European oak. Such a fun floor to lay with the combination of square on square meeting herringbone with the addition of marble steppers.

One of our favourites, 250m2 Hurford’s 15mm x 190mm European oak raw timber plank encasing a herringbone centrepiece with a brass border.

Using Siegel to hold the pattern in its place.

Cutting in the border ready for solid brass.

Border, Brass, Inlay, repeat .

Adding a crowd pleaser, with the help of the guru Chatter Brothers we apply the Rubio Monocoat Australia | Timber Coatings castle brown coloured oil, this product is a one coat system which highlights the beautiful grain structure of the oak.

Trowel on the oil, machine buff the product into the grain and buff off to attain the perfect finish.

A new age approach to a very traditional method of floor finishing.
