It breaks my heart that a 7 year old knows exactly what an oxygen monitor is, where it goes on the body and if we can’t get a reading, Hope says “Toe?”. So we try the toe to get a reading.

We have had such a good run avoiding Hospitals but Saturday, Hope’s heart sky rocketed to 150 bmp, her temp rose and her oxygen level dropped.

Send all your thoughts and prayers our way that this stay will only be a short one and the doctors find out what is causing this!

Imagine this...

It's the end of your work day. You're ready to head home, kick your shoes off, and relax.

And then this happens...

Lately, this has become a regular part of school pick-up.

Before anyone worries, Hope isn't exhausted, she hasn't hurt herself (despite how awkward her feet look in this photo 😅), and she's perfectly fine.

She just... doesn't want to move.

To everyone who tells me she's always so cute... you're more than welcome to join me at school pick-up one afternoon! 😂

It's just one of those little challenges we're working through at the moment. Some days we make progress, and some days... we become one with the footpath.

Over the last couple of days, we’ve been working on the social skill of greeting others. Our goal was for Hope to say “hello” and give a little wave.

The hand placed over her mouth for the “h” sound is a sensory feedback technique. It helps her feel the flow of air needed to produce the sound correctly.

After hours and hours of practice, encouragement, and determination… it’s time for Hope to say…

“Hello!”
