Serafina Arts Serafina is a artist and maker based in Healesville in the stunning Yarra Valley Serafina works largely in three dimensions, in sculpture and craftwork.

Born into a family of artists, Serafina Munns (Miller) was encouraged in her creative interests. Surrounded by art, crafts and the Australian bush it is not surprising that she continues the family tradition. She also paints and draws as well as working in a variety of other mediums. Currently exploring the mediums and materials more traditionally connected to basket making Serafina is interested

in creating forms that reflect experiences and they way each person sees the world. Over the last few years Serafina has also created a collection of baskets, mostly created from materials found in the garden and bush surrounding her. Often weaving a bit of found magic along the way. Serafina is active in the local arts scene in the Yarra Valley, and is a member of YAVA and Yarra Valley Arts. Other artists in the family include David Miller (Father)- Artist, Painter, Sculptor, Author, Illustrator; Sally Miller (Aunt) - Artist, Sculptor, Printmaker, Works on Paper; Rex Miller (Uncle) - Artist, Painter, Works on Paper, Charles (Dusty) Miller (Grandfather) - Sculptor, Painter, Artist. Many other family members are also creative and crafty.

I ran a Wand Making Workshop on Saturday in Carlton, we all had a wonderful time chatting, laughing a little drinking and a large amount of creating.
Seven very different fabulous wands were made all with their own whimsy's.

If you are interested in your own wand making workshop, it can be at your place or mine, please contact me.

If you are lucky enough to have tickets to the Melbourne Ren Fair, you can join in my workshop there and come and see my amazing tent full of Weavings, Wands, Staffs and other wonderful Wise Women's Work.

Wands are so hard to photograph well. Any advice when using a iPhone would be much appreciated.
I have been working hard making wands, staves, baskets and artwork for the Melbourne Ren Fair at Yarra Glen in May.
My stall will be fabulous, we have our 'tent' half made and it is fantastic.
I will be holding at least one wand making workshop and demonstrating basket making - you can have a go at that as well.
Find the wand that is right for you at my stall, or make it at my workshop.

It’s Yarra Valley Open studios Warburton Highway area this weekend.
Visit David Miller in his artist Studio, see where he paint, his equipment and talk to him about his inspiration, techniques and art work.
David Miller has many of his oil paintings to see and buy as well as a selection of his paper sculptures which are illustrations for his numerous picture books.

At last after 3 1/2 weeks this lovely shopping basket is complete.
I used recycled clothing and sheets to wrap the cordage coils.
I especially like the organic aspect that wraps under the basket and becomes the handles. Pretty happy with the organic wimmsy one the base, both a feature and structural.

I have gifted this one to my beautiful daughter Nikkita, I hope she enjoys shopping with it in Melbourne. Xoxo

On this day in 1986, the “Brothers in Arms” LP by Dire Straits was in the #1 spot on the UK Albums Chart (January 25)

One of the most successful LPs in world history, it spent 14 weeks at #1 in the UK, 9 weeks at #1 in the US and a staggering 34 weeks in the #1 spot in Australia.

It also hit #1 in countries like Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Finland, Austria, Norway, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and Sweden.

The album won a Grammy Award in 1986 for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical and Best British Album at the 1987 Brit Awards; the 20th Anniversary Edition won another Grammy in 2006 for Best Surround Sound Album.

Q magazine placed the album at #51 in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever.

In 2020, the album ranked #418 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".

As of July 2016 Brothers in Arms was the eighth-best-selling album of all-time in the UK, and the third-best-selling album of all-time in Australia.
