Nomvula Crafts

Nomvula Crafts Nomvula Crafts is my hobby which I hope one day to turn into a small business. I sell African Fair Trade Beads as well as African Textiles.

Permanently closed.

Some of these items I sell on my Etsy shop, they are available here on this page too. Plus I sell locally at an Arts & Crafts Expo in Atherton.

This is the end/closure for Nomvula Crafts. I have made this decision, closure of my Etsy shop is my main reason plus time isn’t available to keep updating my page as necessary.

To celebrate my granddaughter’s 9th birthday I created an African Baby Animals Quilt using fabric from my stash including 2 fabrics from Tanzania. I also created 2 Zebra cushions together with their inners. All items were lovingly made and Ayla hugged them all

My Banana Harvest is finally completed, it took longer than anticipated but I am happy with the result. It just shows what can be created with African fabric, beads and of course buttons from Incomparable Buttons South Africa. It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my African suppliers, and a lot of patience as it is a slow process but it is relaxing and shows the possibility what you could create. Thanks Grace of www. africanbeadsandfabric for your help as always

Well it has taken longer than I anticipated but my Banana Harvest is now finished. The Barkcloth artwork comes from a market in Uganda and each piece is 7 x 5 inches, artist unknown, and the surrounding African fabric was just pieces from my stash that I couldn’t bear to throw away. Each piece was slowly stitched by hand and the embellishments were added, African Recycled Glass Spacer Beads and Shell Beads from Ghana, whilst the green beads are Vinyl Beads from Mali. No piece of work is complete without handmade ceramic Incomparable Buttons from South Africa, various sizes mainly Tribal Design was used. Thank You to my African Suppliers without whose help I would not be able to create this piece of artwork. You could create something similar using different African beads, buttons and fabric. Very relaxing to create.

Finally completed is this piece of work from the USA. African Folklore Embroidery is colourful, beautiful and inspired by the Ndebele women of South Africa. It’s simple and due to the variety of colourful threads provided could be done in whatever colour you desire. The kits are ideal for someone who is experienced or for those with none. It was very relaxing to create, I am sure that my Ghanaian friend Grace will enjoy seeing my work as she used to do some similar sewing at School in Ghana

Finally completed this Bank Holiday weekend was a piece of African Folklore Embroidery recently received from the USA. Before ( left side) & after (right side) photos I have spent quite a few hours which were relaxing quietly hand sewing this giraffe in bright colourful African threads
