Got in the local rag, after I rang them and said I was organising the Walk4BrainCancer Tasmania event on Saturday 17th October. If you want stuff to happen, you gotta make it happen.

Walk to find a cure and save lives

Walk4BrainCancer Tasmania is a chance to come together with friends, family and the local community to honour those we’ve lost, support people living with brain cancer and help fund vital research that can save lives.

In January 2025 I had a seizure and was diagnosed with a Stage Three astrocytoma brain cancer. I know how important it is to raise as much money as possible for brain cancer research. Brain cancer is one of the less common cancers and research has until recently been sorely lacking. It’s starting to become more known now with some very exciting treatments emerging right here in Australia.

I'm in recovery now, after an initial removal of the tumour (called a recection), followed my radiation/chemo combo, then 12 months of stronger chemo. It's been a helluva ride! It's time to continue the fight with all you by my side.

Kingston Wetlands/Whitewater Creek Track, TAS Kingston

Join us for this lowkey walk of just three kms which follows a safe and known walking track in Kingston, 15 minutes south of Hobart. The Kingston Wetlands and Whitewater Creek Track is a family-friendly, shared-use path system. The concrete all-weather trails follow the creek to link residential zones, the Kingston town centre, Kingston Park, and the sports precinct.

This is a great activity for families, and all other ages too. Get some exercise and raise money for a very needed cause.

I’m taking part in Walk4BrainCancer for every person and family whose life has been affected by brain cancer. 💜
Including myself and my family.

Brain cancer kills more Australian kids than any other disease, and more people under 40 than any other cancer.

I want to help change that by raising funds for vital research into better treatments and a cure.

Compiling the evidence!

B***s, brains and eyes. Stitched and crocheted over aida. Upcycled yarn and frames from the op shop.

Making textile art has been helping me stay sane since my brain cancer was diagnosed last January. After 1.5 years of treatment (yes, totally insane!), the last being 12 months of chemo, I'm now in recovery. Still buggerall energy but enough to keep creating what I hope one day will be my full-time job.
