Even though my shop is a love affair with the flowers of summer, I do enjoy every season here in Tasmania, my home for the last 14 years after escaping the fierce dry heat of South Australia.
I love this time of year in my Pontville garden, when all the deciduous trees are stripped back to their lovely bare bones. Here is the front of our 200 year old cottage with the dormer windows visible again now that the huge oak tree has shed its leaves.

Good morning! It might be nearly winter solstice but the sun is streaming through the front of my little dried flower shop today highlighting the bright colours of last summer’s blooms.
If you’re visiting in the afternoon, don’t forget my new winter closing time of 3 o’clock. Open Wednesday to Saturday 10-3

I couldn’t help but collect a little basket of the glorious yellow ginkgo leaves piling under all the plantings in Rattle Street and skittering down the road in the wind! I’ve used some in this little bottle arrangement which also features a couple of collected feathers.

New in! Beautiful enameled metal flower brooches by Alexander Thurlow of London who have been making this kind of costume jewellery since 1949. I was going to photograph them with some fresh pansies from the shop window boxes but they are absolutely sodden after hours of heavy rain! Prices are from $22
Hard to pick a favourite- but it would be between the yellow pansy, the rosemary sprig and the swallow I think!

Good morning! My first trading day of winter and the season has definitely turned! Cold, wet and grey outside, but so much colour and warmth inside!
As of today, I will be closing half an hour earlier at 3 instead of 3.30 on Wednesday to Friday. This will give me time to get home and walk my dogs in daylight as the afternoons draw in.
I’ve been using wet days off to replenish my stock of best selling Little Vintage Charm necklaces, which I make from a mixture of vintage and new elements.
Also, for the whole month of June, I will be having a sale on the gorgeous Walter G and Lazybones cushions which will all be 20% off. If you’ve been admiring them each time you come in, now is your chance!

Friends Sally and Danielle have just completed these lovely wreaths in the final of my autumn wreath making Saturday workshops. Both wreaths have a lovely ethereal quality, Sally’s with a summery wild flower feel and Danielle’s with a softer, more end of autumn atmosphere.
I will be offering more dates in the lead up to the festive season, but in the meantime, as long as I still have plenty of flowers in stock, you can contact me to arrange a session that suits you to make a half wreath like this. Minimum of two and maximum of four people works best for me.
