I had this remnant of an embroidered linen tablecloth which I had dyed a very pretty rose pink. There wasn't enough for a shirt, but enough for a sleeveless vest/top thingy. The dyeing isn't perfect, but it's very sweet, and would be very cool to wear. What say you, lovely followers? It's a size Small, maybe 10-12.

Point de venise lace tablecloths are among the richest and most beautiful, in my opinion. I've made this jacket from a circular one and you might be able to spot the slightly curved edge at the hem. I've bound the neck and front with some quite old pure silk, and I even used the edge of a matching doiley to trim the neckline.
It's quite beautiful, isn't it? It's a size Small to fit a 10-14.

I have been given this quite fabulous fabric by the very generous Julie of Ministry of Handmade. There was just enough to make a Medium size shirtdress (measuring 56cm at the hip)and the last picture shows how much leftover there was!
It is designed by Bernice Christophe-Häfel from Germany, it seems. It appears to be a polished cotton with the most beautiful sheen and sensational painterly print.

Replenishing stock of these rather gorgeous vintage pinwale cord shirtdresses has been my mission. I had some cut out, so here they are. The red one is a size Medium, measuring 66cm across the hipline. This is all the red I have, I'm afraid. The blue is a Small size and measures 62cm at the hip. The white one is also a Medium.
Perfect winter wear. We're loving them, it seems! AND THERE ARE POCKETS.

This is the second jacket I've made today. Tip #215 Don't sew this faux fur fabric while wearing a black knit dress. In fact, Tip #216, avoid sewing this fabric ever. It's a nightmare.
Nevertheless, and notwithstanding the difficulties, I finished this darling jacket for my four-year-old grandson, Freddie. He's the rugged outdoors type, so it should keep him warm and dry.

This is the first of two jacket posts for today. This one is a size Medium, measuring 58cm across, and is made from a lovely green cotton tablecloth with crisp white appliqué, and it's lined.

From my secret stash of tapestries, I decided that this doggo needed to be featured on a handbag. It's been another of those experiments where the bag is worth about $500,000 because of the time I've spent.
It's lined, with bound seams, and has a zippered pocket on the back (it's a bit crooked, ok?) Mind you, I'd get faster if I did more, so, I never say never. Recycled zips from a too far gone handbag of mine, as well. It's not for sale, sorry.

Can you hear Vivienne turning in her grave?

A lovely friend gave me a Vivienne Westwood handbag she had bought at an opp shop (who would toss one of those???) because she knows I'm such a fan. It was pretty shabby because VW uses vegan leather and it doesn't last forever. So I did my thing and rebuilt it. I reused all the beautiful hardware and the lining, and made new straps so I could use it as a crossbody style.
Don't look closely, as I don't have the right kind of sewing machine for this bag caper. I have to say, the original was beautifully made and detailed, with all seams glued and stitched, but yunno, it had passed its useby date.
I love it.

Have you written it in your diary? Opening night of Selvedge26 is Friday 12 June at 5.00pm. The charming Robert Moore will be in attendance and I'll do my best to keep up.
This year's show will be deliberately affordable, and there will be no visible red dots, because you'll take your art away with you. Groundbreaking stuff.
The exhibition will be open every day from Thursday 11 June until Sunday 22 June.
