New kiln day.

When I started Hobart Hills I was firing an old share kiln every few months, full of test pieces and experiments. This Rohde makes two here at the studio now.

More capacity, more consistency, and honestly a signal to myself that this thing is real and it’s growing.

Share bowls! Seems to be my most popular serving piece at the moment. Perfect for a small salad or side dish on a shared table, or bake your dessert in them and plonk it on the table!

New glazes hitting the shelves! A good chunk of the most recent work has gone straight from the kiln in to the hands of waiting customers, but rest assured there is a lot more on the way, including another new glaze which i’m super excited about.

A little sample of two of my new glazes:

Eucalypt, a deep forest green which speaks about the ubiquitous Tasmanian Blue Gums.

Aurora, the winter spectacle of solar radiation in the night skies we get throughout winter in Tasmania.

I am pulling so much more work out of the kiln this week, drop in to check it out!

Last kiln load before i take a little break. Closing this Thursday and re-opening Wednesday the 8th April.

Please note that any online orders from now will also have some lag, but i will be hitting the ground running on return and will be pumping out the work.

Need last minute ceramic supplies? There’s plenty of stock on the shelves so come on in before Thursday.

A few test pieces finally starting to come out of the kiln- lots more on the way! Here’s some small vessels for the art series, and the bright green, now AKA Aurora, is the freshest addition to my range. I will have this fully stocked in the next couple of weeks.

Back at it this week, so whether you’re grabbing a coffee .laundry or just wandering around the hood on one of these glorious summer days, drop in and say hi 👋

With the Christmas shenanigans already a blurry memory, i’m doing a little tidy and organise this week, and then i’m full steam ahead: restocking the whole core range, designing and creating the new art series, prototyping some new oven-to-table pieces, finalising some small (and larger) sculptural vessels which are well on the way, and i’m super excited to be adding a new core range glaze to the collection (think eucalypt..) in the coming weeks.

oh yeah, and table lamps.

2026 gonna be huge!

That’s a wrap for 2025! Thank you everyone for an absolutely amazing 1st year. I’ve enjoyed every minute of making, chatting and laughing with you all, and can’t wait for all the exciting new things 2026 brings. See you all then!

What a year it’s been! Taking a few day’s break from midday today (10th)- i’ll be back next Monday the 15th and in the studio rolling out lots of new work all week, including Saturday 10-2pm. Come say g’day!
