Spindletree designer co-op producing high quality locally made clothing and yarns from natural fibres We also accept commission orders.

The Spindle Tree opened in June 1989 as a craft cooperative specialising in knitting, crocheting, felting, dyeing, weaving, and spinning. The cooperative's two main principles are that all works are constructed from natural fibres and are made by Tasmanian artisans. We also stock work from a number of Tasmanian suppliers ensuring that fellow local craftsmen have an outlet for their work. Items in

the store are highly individualistic with members often creating their own designs using hand-spun and hand-dyed fibres. Many of the members have been awarded prizes at local and interstate agricultural shows. New creations from our members are accepted and displayed every Thursday. This ensures that the stock is ever-evolving and reflective of the interest and exploration of the fibre artisan who has produced the item. You can provide your own design/pattern and fibre/yarn or discuss your requirements with us, and we will supply the fibre to create your request. You can find us at Shop 009 within the Salamanca Arts Centre in Hobart, Tasmania. Look for the spinning wheel and colourful mohair hanks of yarn hanging outside the shop doors.
