Carlton St Candles Artisan candles and room mists with a vintage vibe hand poured in Hobart. I’ve enjoyed making candles for about 5 years now. Thanks for visiting my page!

It’s a lovely mindful time where the room fills with delicious scents and my mind slips into the rhythm of careful melting, mixing and pouring. Over the years I’ve used all sorts of vessels to make candles but never wine bottles which have such a lovely warm glow. Over the past few months one thing led to another and my lovely husband has mastered the art of cutting and carefully sanding wine and beer bottles. While it’s not a new concept to recycle bottles into candles they are harder to come by as attempts would drive most people slowly insane! My husband is a patient man (my mother would agree!). Once the vessels are ready, I hand pour the candles with this amazing creamy soy wax which burns just perfectly with excellent scent throw (meaning you can smell the candle when you walk in the room!). The label is inspired by our home on Carlton Street. The leaves on the label are from the golden elms which run down the centre of the street. I love gazing out the window at them as they catch the light. Please note the bottle candles do have imperfections as they are handcut and repurposed.

We love our collaboration with Emma and Robbie at Derwent Distillery. We repurpose their gin and wh**ky bottles into amazing coconut soy candles! The bottles are all hand-cut by my husband ❤️ before I make the candles. The range has just been restocked at the Derwent Distillery Tasting Room on Hampton Rd. Battery Point. 3 fragrances available that are inspired by their range - Gin & Tonic, Tawny Port & Burnt Fig, and Blush Rose & Lychee. Drop in for a tasting and a chat (and a candle sniff 😂).

SPRING HAS SPRUNG! What a relief 😂 I had a wander in our garden today and couldn’t help but shoot our Jasmine & Sweet Pea candle with the jasmine vines! It’s a gentle floral fragrance with notes of watermelon and cucumber. Very limited stock. Don’t forget you can arrange local collection through our website or I can post for a flat rate of $10. I’ll be a bit quiet on socials for the next two weeks while I take a break in Bali. I’m enjoying all the fragrances that I love so much while I walk the streets. Cempaka (one of my favourites which is part of the magnolia family), orchid, frangipani, and coconut. When I return keep an eye out for the launch of my Christmas candle-making workshops! I’m yet to meet someone who doesn’t love our Tasmanian Bush fragrance. Lemon myrtle. Pine needles. Eucalyptus. It’s a scent for all seasons and any occasion, which reminds you of the wonderful island that some of us are lucky enough to call home ❤️.
