Another deck brought back the right way. 👌

This HardieDeck had been peeling, cracking and blistering, and the owner had never been able to get a consistent finish. The previous coating had simply been flaked off in areas and painted over again — and it blistered almost straight away.

Before committing to the full restoration, we tested a section, sanding it right back to the fibre cement and applying our deck paint system. The sample performed perfectly, so we carried the same process across the entire deck.

It was a very tough sand, but we persevered and removed the failed coatings back to the fibre cement to create the proper foundation for the new finish.

Now the coating has been applied correctly from the ground up, giving the deck a cleaner, more consistent and much longer-lasting finish, with far easier maintenance going forward.

POV: You reset this deck. 👌

This deck’s old coating was failing and overdue for maintenance, so we took everything back to bare timber and rebuilt the protection properly.

Because this deck is part of a residential complex, the owners wanted a durable finish that would be easy to maintain long-term. We recommended a painted system because it offers:

✔️ Tough, long-lasting protection
✔️ Excellent resistance against UV and weather exposure
✔️ Helps conceal ageing, stains and timber imperfections
✔️ Simple maintenance recoats every 3–5 years

For the colour, we used Cabot’s Timbercolour in Mission Brown — a warm, timber-inspired brown that gives the durability of paint while still complementing the natural outdoor feel of the property.

The full process:

🪵 Sanded the entire deck back to bare timber
🧼 Applied deck cleaner, scrubbed, washed and rinsed
🎨 Applied two protective coats of Cabot’s Timbercolour
🤎 Finished in Mission Brown

Now the deck looks refreshed, is properly protected and will be much easier for the complex to maintain moving forward.
