We visited Jake at the site of his new greenhouse, which he is currently constructing to cultivate vegetables. Although the project is still underway, it was thrilling to witness its progress.
Cant wait to see when it's done.
More about his greenhouse :
This system is a Hydroponic Dutch Bucket Table Setup.
Unlike traditional Dutch bucket systems, which are typically installed in a single line along a wall, this design utilizes a table layout to suit the available space.
The system is supplied with nutrients via a 19mm irrigation line connected to a pond pump located in the reservoir below the table. Individual taps are installed to regulate the water flow as the plants mature. Each bucket is fed through a 4mm elbow fitting at the top, allowing the nutrient solution to be delivered directly to the base of the plant.
Inside each bucket, a syphon mechanism ensures proper drainage: once the nutrient solution reaches approximately 1 inch in depth, it automatically drains back into the reservoir. This maintains a consistent 1-inch nutrient level within each bucket, optimizing conditions for plant growth.
This setup is specifically designed for fruiting crops such as tomatoes, capsicums, cucumbers, and chillies, providing efficient nutrient delivery and recirculation in a compact and manageable system.
