I absolutely love a fleshed out illustration, using watercolour, sketching until it’s just right…but sometimes, using the iPad to create some line work that still feels like my work is so satisfying.

🩵 I have a fairly rubbish memory, but I do remember that poster very well (I can’t find it online sadly). The woman was packing colourful toys in boxes. It was such a dream for me, especially as I was a toy maker at the time (wave if you remember that era!).
💜This big wholesale order has been one of the many highlights of my business year so far, and it’s also made me reflect on how far I’ve come. It’s nice to stop and look back sometimes, instead of always looking ahead and wondering what’s next and how to get there.
🧡 Also, I was surprised to realise that I haven’t changed that much in 10 ish years! 😅

By the end of today I will have printed, laminated and cut 366 stickers! 😳 I’m so glad I have a cutting machine!

🍄 From conception to birth, Gus only took 10 days to come into this world as a pin! One of the reasons I love making things myself/ relying on someone local to make the blanks.

I absolutely love making things with my hands. I always have. I remember as a child making a paper bin, out of…paper (and sandals, yes). But sometimes I wonder if I wouldn’t be better off getting things produced by a manufacturer. I make everything myself: greeting cards, stickers, pins, bookmarks. And I’m super proud of that. I enjoy the process of designing merch and working out how I can make things myself with what I have. But should I decide that maybe giving myself some time to paint is more important? And will making everything by hand still make sense if FITL grows even more, or will that hinder it? If you have a magic answer, do let me know! 😬

Friends in the Leaves has been taking its sweet time to grow. I’ve felt frustrated at times, because the growth was too slow. And to be honest, I still feel like it sometimes. But this year has seen the Friends reaching new places and new records like never before. So even if I don’t say ‘I’ve finally made it’, maybe I can say ‘it’s happening soon’. Thank you all for taking me there.
