day 7: Today I’m wearing one of my most-worn makes, my Coco Top. I wore this on Saturday (day 2) as well. I finally added the little pocket I cut out *years* ago! The fabric is double-sided jersey, so I used dots for the outside, and stripes for the inside and contrast pocket. I usually always wear this top with my denim dungarees, but now that I’ve added the cute pocket I might need to make some trousers to go with it, so you can actually see it! I’ve added some old photos so you can see how much I wear it!

It’s May! I’ll be taking part in sporadically. On Friday I wore my Billie sweatshirt made out of some lovely velour fabric I picked up for free at a de-stash event. It’s finally getting cool enough in Perth to wear it again. It’s one of my favourite makes 🥰.

I had too much fun at to take any photos, but here I am in the dress I made for it awkwardly posing in my garden. Pattern is New Look K6145, a simple shift dress, but I omitted the back vent and added in-seam pockets (of course!), and used Nell Blouse & Dress pattern for the puff sleeves. Fabric is from my mother-in-law’s late friend Wendy’s stash, with the money I paid for it going to a breast cancer charity. I love this dress so much, I think I will wear it a lot! 🌷🌷🌷

I haven’t posted for a while as there’s been a lot going on, but I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be teaching a ‘Learn to sew’ course at the Kalamunda Community Learning Centre in August and September!

Some of you may know I used to teach sewing and dressmaking at when I lived in London, but stopped when I became a mum (and since moved to Australia). This will be my first time teaching a sewing class in more than 6 years, and I’m really looking forward to it.

The Kalamunda Community Learning Centre was founded in 1977, and it’s such a great place. All the tutors volunteer their time, knowledge and skills, and the venue hire is subsidised by the local council, so all the courses are affordable and accessible for all. I have done a great ‘Handy Persons’ course there last year, where I learned lots of DIY skills, and made a wooden toolbox (which I use for my gardening tools).

I just checked and saw that all 6 places have already booked up on my course (enrolments opened a few hours ago) and I’m looking forward to sharing my joy of sewing and making with these 6 people 🥰

Watch this space as I’m looking into running more sewing workshops and courses in the future. ✨
