This north-facing Wentworth Falls weatherboard was ready for a transformation. Once painted a pale lime green, the client’s brief was to ground the home in its natural surroundings with a deeper, more welcoming colour palette—something that truly felt like coming ‘home.’
•
Thornton & Blake colour consultant, Ellisha, drew on more than 20 years of expertise to guide the process. The client arrived with some initial ideas, but it was equally important to honour the home’s heritage—believed to date back to the early 1900s. Ellisha explored colour distribution, sheen levels, and complementary tones that would highlight its character. Options included a warm primary base, a sharp contrasting colour, and a subtle pink accent to echo the original red glass in the front door.
•
To unlock deeper inspiration, Ellisha encouraged the client to reflect on personal memories. One stood out vividly: her Great Aunt’s bluestone brick home in Oatley, NSW. This nostalgic connection became the key to the final scheme.
•
Drawing from the blues and browns of bluestone, the new palette took shape:
•Dulux ‘Chocolate Soufflé’ on the weatherboards and fibre cement as the rich brown base
•Dulux ‘Oolong’ as a strong complementary navy
• Dulux ‘Buff’ for subtle highlights
•Dulux ‘Mocha Magic’ on the deck, tying in with the concrete path and entry
•
The result is a timeless colour scheme that feels both grounded and warmly inviting—an inspired reflection of heritage, memory, and place.

Stepping into this Winmalee bathroom feels like entering a quiet retreat—where shadow, light, texture and warmth are thoughtfully composed to evoke a sense of calm. Designed by Thornton & Blake Interior Designer Fiona Harding, the brief was to extend the home’s luxe, dark and moody aesthetic into a sanctuary-like bathroom, while ensuring it remained highly functional for family living.

Semi-translucent sheer curtains and blinds are a versatile window treatment that bring elegance, softness and privacy into your home. Used alone or layered with block-out curtains, blinds or shutters, sheers can transform your space during the day or night, allowing you to enjoy the beautiful movement and diffused light from the outdoors, while still maintaining a sense of retreat from passers-by. Available in a range of textiles including natural cotton, wool or linen, to a synthetic or blend that offers greater durability and easier cleaning with the visual feel and look of a natural fabric, sheers will bring softness, privacy, gentle movement and a sense of relaxed elegance to your Blue Mountains home.

For their kitchen design our Leura clients were looking to capture the stunning natural elements of the escarpment views, whilst ensuring the space offered a luxurious, contemporary and elegant feel that could be replicated throughout the property.
•
Our Interior Designer Fiona called on Janz Designs to collaborate with on bespoke elements of the luxurious kitchen. The result is a contemporary style kitchen that encompasses the beauty and warmth of nature by using timber cabinetry and natural limestone flooring, paired with stunning metallic mosaic tiling and a contemporary artisan crafted natural quartz and brass feature light that lifts the space with a sophisticated elegance.
