The majority of the build was finished besides a few finishing touches, which was lucky because I then ended up in Hospital AND we had some new chicks!!!
(The roof lifts for added ventilation during the day) and the Dog likes to keep guard - Just in-case the chicks hurt someone 🀣🀣🀣

Using the solar panel frames, 2nd hand tin (removed from our house due to hail damage) and reclaimed wood that came when our new tin for our house was delivered, the purple spray paint left over from another project 'The Chick Inn' was coming together.
The only thing I needed to purchase was spray paint in monument and the mesh πŸ’œ

Months prior to DB I had taken a part these old solar panels to build a chick hatchery because we had lost a lot of baby chicks to crows as our chickens free range (as you can see)
As usual, too many projects on the go this kne kept getting pushed to the side - But not after what happened to DB. It was put high on priority so I didnt have to feel any more chick loss.

I couldnt have a house chicken, so DB was introduced to the flock. Everything was going great until mumma hen went to bed and little DB couldnt figure out where to go. Unfortunately another hen attacked DB and after 2 days of fighting (back inside the house) poor little DB lost its fight 😭
I now no longer get attached to baby chicks. I learnt that hard lesson πŸ₯Ί

Early one morning in June I woke up to the sound of Cheeping and little DB had hatched (The kids named it DB because it was Daisy's and Bruno's chick)
It couldnt walk properly due to 1 foot curling so I made it a shoe and we spent a few days with this chick to build up its stamina so it could join the other chicks who had hatched a week earlier

Im ready to share a story with you all.

This was my very first fertilised egg that honestly, I didn't think would develop. I knowingly added it late under a broody hen so naturally when the other chicks hatched (from bought fertile eggs) I knew I had to put it into my cheap 'just in case' incubator which I also didnt have high hopes for - but I watched this for days, waiting (impatiently) for it to hatch.
Its pretty cool to witness!

All of the amazing wall clocks that I have looking for their new homes.
These make the best house warming, birthdays or Christmas gifts.
They're all 100% hand made from quality materials and will last a lifetime. The only thing they'll need is a battery change every couple of years (approx $1) and a mechanism change every 5ish years (approx $10)
