Thanks so much to you guys who came along to my first ever axe workshop here in the Original Rainforest Market! I've been wanting to run an axe-focused carving workshop for a while now and it was great to be able to make it happen.

I had a great time and I hope I was able to share a trick or two. I definitely misjudged how long it takes to axe out a blank when you're just beginning your carving journey, so I'll keep that in mind for the next time.

Thanks also to BUSK JAPANESE TEA HOUSE for some delicious refreshments this morning.

Stay tuned for more workshop dates in the future, and I'm always happy to take private bookings too.

Carving axe workshop this Saturday!

Start with a freshly cut log and take home your own handmade wooden spoon. Learn this ancient greenwood craft just like our ancestors did - without sandpaper or machinery.

This is an advanced carving workshop so participants must be comfortable using a sharp carving axe and also need to have the endurance for a full day of working with hand tools.

The workshop takes place in the beautiful Kuranda Original Rainforest Market. Bring your own lunch or grab a bite to eat at the market. Coffees are on me.

Suitable for adults and responsible youngsters (16+).

Send me a message if you'd like to get involved or have any questions. Follow my page if you'd like to keep up-to-date with workshop dates in the future.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of running a spoon carving workshop for a home-schooling group in Kewarra Beach. Honestly not the worst location for a bit of carving!

Thanks so much to all the families who got involved and very well done to the young lads.

I haven't planned any dates for more workshops yet but I'll get round to that, and I'm always happy to take private bookings.
