Over the last few months, I've spent a lot of time thinking about where Scimarec is heading.
I've worried about workshops, flyers, molds, Facebook ads, pricing, classes and what I should be offering next.
But recently I realised something important.
People don't come to Scimarec because of the ceramics. They don't come because of the paint. They don't come because of the sketchbooks or mixed media supplies. Those things are simply the tools we use.
What people are really looking for is a place where they feel comfortable enough to create.
A place where there is no pressure to be perfect.
A place where they can relax, have a laugh, try something new and leave feeling proud of themselves.
Over the years I've watched people walk into my studio saying:
"I can't draw."
"I'm not creative."
"I'm going to mess this up."
Then I've watched those same people create something beautiful and leave with a smile on their face.
That's the part that matters.
The artwork is wonderful, but seeing someone gain confidence, connect with others, express themselves and discover what they're capable of is even better.
Maybe Scimarec was never really about ceramics.
Maybe it was always about creativity, connection and giving people permission to create without judgement.
The paint, clay, pencils and canvas are simply the vehicles that get us there.
So as Scimarec continues to grow, that's what I want it to be known for.
Not just a ceramics studio. Not just workshops.
But a creative space where people of all ages can come exactly as they are, explore their creativity and discover that they are capable of far more than they think.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey so far.
You have taught me as much as I have taught you.
