🐾 We love dogs! 🐾

We loved catching up with Kenny this week, he’s a bit of a Lauderdale legend and one very well behaved four legged visitor! 🐶❤️

We love seeing your fur babies at Harmony and they’re always welcome to come along and enjoy the nursery with you.

We just ask that our furry friends stay on a lead while they’re here. Our chickens can get a little nervous around unexpected visitors, and we want everyone, two legged, four legged and feathered, to feel safe and happy. 🐔🐾

Thanks for helping us keep Harmony a welcoming place for everyone! 🌿

🌿 IS THIS YOUR GARDEN? 🌿

Kate and Andrew have been out in the neighbourhood admiring some of the best local gardens — and this one really caught our eye! 👀🌿

The beautiful Kunzea in flower, the striking Leucadendron and the lush Lilly Pilly are all looking amazing. 🌸🌿

If this is your garden, pop into Harmony this weekend and we’d love to reward your hard work with a beautiful plant valued at up to $18. 🌱💚

Know whose garden it is? Let them know — they might have a little surprise waiting!

We love seeing the gardens around our local community and the creativity, care and effort that goes into them. Congratulations to the gardener behind this one! 👏

We’re celebrating gardens that can be admired from public areas. We don’t show house numbers, names or other identifying details — just the garden itself.

🌿 Viburnum ‘Anvi’ is flowering now!

Keep an eye out in your neighbourhood and you’ll see just how beautiful this lightly scented screening plant can be. 🌸

‘Anvi’ is the result of the latest Dutch breeding, selected for its large flower clusters, attractive stem colouration and excellent performance as a hedging and screening plant.

It’s tough, hardy and versatile, handling a wide range of conditions and making a reliable choice for Tasmanian gardens.

A beautiful way to add privacy, structure and seasonal interest to the garden.

What would surprise people about how we grow our stock?

One of the things I’m most proud of at Harmony is that we don’t just talk about growing plants differently — we actually do it.

Our production nursery is built around a simple philosophy: work with nature, not against it.

We choose not to use synthetic fertilisers in the production of our Harmony-grown stock. Instead, we focus on building healthy plants through good growing practices, quality inputs and a living growing environment.

And that’s where our good bugs come in.

Beneficial insects are an important part of our approach to managing pests naturally. Rather than reaching for a broad-spectrum chemical every time we see an insect, we want to understand what’s happening in the nursery and encourage the insects that help us keep the balance.

It’s not about pretending that growing plants is completely pest-free. It’s about creating an environment where healthy plants, beneficial insects and good horticultural practices can work together.

For us, being chem-free is more than a marketing phrase. It’s part of our values and the way we want to operate our nursery.

We believe you can grow beautiful, healthy plants while being more mindful of the environment, our staff, our customers and the wider ecosystem.

There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes before a plant arrives on our retail benches — and sometimes the smallest workers are doing some of the biggest jobs.

Meet the good bugs working at Harmony.

It was great to be back on ABC Hobart Gardening Talkback with Mel Bush this morning, chatting all things gardening and answering questions from gardeners around Tasmania.

We covered some timely winter topics, including planting blueberries, getting on top of oxalis, and the benefits of miniature fruit trees — giving you normal-sized, delicious fruit but on a smaller-growing tree, making them perfect for smaller gardens.

We also talked about leaf curl and getting the timing right to protect your stone fruit, along with codling moth and how to stay ahead of this frustrating pest.

And as always, if you have a gardening question, send it my way. I love hearing what you’re tackling in the garden and helping you get the best from your plants.
