Yamatsuka Hamono is a historic knife maker from Sakai, Japan, with craftsmanship passed down for over a century. Now led by the fourth-generation Yamatsuka brothers, they are one of the representative blacksmiths of Sakai knives. Many double-bevel Gin-san steel knives produced in Sakai are forged and heat-treated by their workshop.

I occasionally check my work using my goniometer and cross check my aim and result. How the reflection comes out as a diffusion or a focus depends on multiple factors such as where it is reflecting on the blade, what grits were finished on, what direction the strokes were made, geometry, whether it is convex, concave.
